Got a 2005 tC that came with the old style gray key, same one as pictures in this listing:

Lost one a couple of years ago, and my second one is on its last legs. It's being held together by a whole lot of electrical tape, but I'm just wondering what to do in case it finally gives in.

I have my valet key, which can unlock and start the car, but I'd like to also be able to use the keyless entry. Don't wanna pay up the wazoo to get a new key programmed by the dealer, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a keyless entry fob (without integrated key) that I could program to use to get into the car, and then I can use my valet key in the ignition? I think xA's and xB's back then had a separate fob??

At the very worst, I suppose I could buy the key in the listing, and just reprogram the keyless entry to work with my car? Since the key is already cut, I could probably just hack off the metal key part and use the main plastic body as a keyless entry remote, right?

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that. But I was also thinking that just in case I wanted to have an additional keyless entry backup, could I find a fob that would work.

I'll have to think about the switchblade mod a little more. It does look slick.
