Default Laser Jammer?

hello i actually have 2 questions

1) Is Laser Jammers illegal? Especially in the state of NJ and NY?

2) what is a good/realiable company that makes Laser Jammers? and im not talkin about the laser/radar detectors, im talkin about the actual Laser Jammer that pretty much goes in your bumper or something like that.

Thanks

Laser jammers are legal in most states. The FCC governs radio frequencies making active radar jammers illegal. Laser jammers use infrared light making them legal. The individual state has to generate laws to ban laser jammers, some have.

Here are a few links to some websites that have legal info and that sell jammers.

I heard that Laser Jammers are highly illegal. They're also really expensive. I'm not sure if they're really worth the money honestly. idk about where you are, but I have yet to encounter a cop using a Laser around my area, and I've been using a radar detector for almost a year.

what about that spray stuff that delays the laser. I read about that stuff on that Radar Detector site. Because once your radar detector detects a Laser signal you have something like half a second or a second to react before ur busted, so pretty much the laser function on a radar detector just says "Dude ur f-ed". This spray is supposed to absorbe the laser or w.e extending the amount of time you have to react by a little bit. Something like 3 seconds, which could be a lot, Could be a difference between getting a ticket for doin 80 and a ticket for doin 70 or even 65.

Passive Radar jammers and Laser jammers are illegal in Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.

Active Radar jammers, which broadcast radio frequencies (unlike passive Radar jammers), are illegal in every state and territory of the U.S.

Default Laser jammers are legal

This site here:

http://www.radarbusters.com/

Will tell you all you need to know. The guy who owns it "Radar Roy" is an ex-cop who is all for people avoiding speed traps, (though I don't know why). On some product pages such as the "Blinder M45 X-Treme" laser jammer and the page for the spray, there is even a youtube video showing how it works and proving that it does, in fact work.

One of the other repliers here mentioned the difference between radar and laser and I will add to that.

Radar jammers - if you see these advertised they either 1) do not work at all or 2) do work because they are ridiculously expensive AND are HIGHLY ILLEGAL. For the aforementioned FCC regulations. I think they're even a felony to use.

Laser jammers, such as the M45 X-treme, are legal and do work. And when you think about it (as is also explained on that site) cops nowadays use laser far more than radar because laser literally works like a gun, in that it's not on until it's 'lasering' you. And once you're lasered, you're caught. The jammers like the M45 block those completely, although the site owner still suggests you get the plate covers and the spray to help out. The spray video also shows that it is only to be used on shiny places like headlights and turn signals and NOT on paint.

According to the info on the site, if you've got the jammer, the spray and the plate covers....you're pretty golden. They even offer a combo pack for all items. You can bet I'll be plunkin' down some coin on that combo pack not long after I grab my new '07 tC tomorrow morning (and yes, I'm excited as hell).

Interesting note: they also offer cool "James Bond-ish" features you can add like a switch that is hard-wired to your car that controls the jammer 'pods.' In one position, the jammer is off and totally hidden. Then you flip the switch and it drops down and turns on.

The site also offers a device that will alert you when you're approaching either a red light with a red-light camera or one of those radar-signs that shows you your speed.

For the right price, that site has it ALL. I'm about to be a very loyal customer of theirs. ;-)

Most states have some type of law on the books about interfering with speed detection devices. Even if states don't explicitly ban laser jammers, they can still pin a crime on you if they believe you are using any type of technology to interfere with the normal operation of their equipment.

They try to pin one on you. But a quick trip to a lawyer and $75 later and you're off scott free.

(Beaten 9 tickets in 4 years with lawyers. ;)

^^ yea. Like with radar detectors they won't give you a ticket for the detector itself but for obstruction of view. :-/

Yeah they can be funny like that. However..... ;) the jammer is an external device, mounted below the lights.....kind of a drop-down thing from the bumper (depending on how you choose to mount it. Also, that's what I meant by the one device 'lowering' the pods. They're up under the car out of view until you flip a switch. Then....they drop down and turn on. You get pulled over, flip the switch again and plead ignorance.

;)

Default By the way....

Congratulate me.....I got my (nearly) brand-new Scion tC today!! Just came from the place. A nice, black-cherry pearl Scion tC. Only had 3,800 miles on it too. Apparently the previous owner leased it or something and his wife hated it and made him turn it in for a sedan.

"Women"

His loss - my gain. Beautiful car. Can ya tell I'm happy?

Actually, I don't have to take pics (I will of course but I don't have to right now). The place I bought it from had several up already. Lemme pull 'em down and post 'em up. (Assuming I can figure out how that is.)
