the GT-S is faster, it has 20 more hp lol. Its still not that much faster though. The handling isnt bad especially when its lowered. The inside of it feels like your in a jet fighter or something too.

gt is 160 right and the only thing that makes it slower is the gearing from what I've heard. Though the gt-s could take us.

i dunno, i doubt a GTS would take my car. I would kill for a 6th gear though!

Yeah sc would take it easy though it might be intresting to see a n/a race one. Like I said I saw somewhere on here that the gearing was the celica's greatest flaw.

I like the tC better but maybe I am biased since I have a tC and didn't own a celica. I thought the celica looked like a chick car though. I never drove one but I always heard that the gearing sucked making them not as fast as they could have been.

Can't really call a celica a chick car and not the tC. Anyway if you get the celica with the TRD lip and wing that thing is sick in the head for a factory car. If I were just getting a completely stock tC or gt-s, I would take the tC. With few mods the tC is one of the better looking cars on road for the price.

i agree with you torque. toyota shouldnt have discontinued it
it was actually the car i was planning on getting back in 05 but that was the year they stopped making it -_-
im not too sure which is better tho..
the gt-s has vvtL-i so itd probably do better once it hits the higher rpms

the gt-s is more of a sport car than the tc is. however, that doesnt mean the tc is bad. just means the gt-s was more purpose driven in that sense.

they never made a 7th gen ST ... that died with the 6th gen celica.

as for the question. The 7th gen GT-S vs the tC .. Stock vs Stock th GT-S would take it... depending it both drivers where on the same level. main reason i got the tC was cause they killed off the Celica and It was hard for me to brake away from the toyota family.. seeing at my 95 Celica has 300.000 miles.

I though the GT-S would be slower off the line because the engine doesn't have that kind of low in power. I know it will kill a tc when lift kicks in.

^well not necessarily "kill" but i think it would win =)
if the driver of the gt-s can shift and still stay in lift im sure the gts would def win

this has been somewhat debated before. it was the debate of tc versus a corolla xrs or matrix xrx. ultimately they are all just glorified corollas.

in the hands of an average driver, i'd say the tc because that generous torque makes it alot easier to drive than the celica gt-s.

the celica has alot of advantages though with lift being one of them. the other being that it was just so much lighter, i don't know about their gearing, but with a 6 spd, it should be able to spend plenty of time in peak rpm. and being lighter is a huge plus because no matter what, power does not make up for extra weight, ever, when it comes to racing.
