Didn't the stock Celica sit on 15"s? That's WEAK.

in the hands of an average driver, i'd say the tc because that generous torque makes it alot easier to drive than the celica gt-s.

the celica has alot of advantages though with lift being one of them. the other being that it was just so much lighter, i don't know about their gearing, but with a 6 spd, it should be able to spend plenty of time in peak rpm. and being lighter is a huge plus because no matter what, power does not make up for extra weight, ever, when it comes to racing.
I agree, daily driven tC would be the better choice. Stock vs stock GT-S > tC. The GT-S was built for more of a purposeful role as a sporty coupe.... although the motor was not the greatest in terms of handling a lot of abuse. However, the 2000 model was great... something about the ECU being easier to get into. This allowed owners to raise the rev limiter to about 8500 RPM and stay in lift after shifts. So w/ that, perhaps the tC is a a good Celica GT replacement, not a GT-S replacement b/c the GT-S was a bit expensive (compared to a tC) as I recall.
And what does 15" wheels have to do w/ a car being "weak"? Personally I would take a car w/ 15" wheels w/ less rotational mass than a heavier 17"..................... oh wait, wrong car forum.

i beat a gt-s the other night, 2 times he got me once...
they have no torque our torque helps us off the line, they have like 130tq, i guess once past 4th gear they would go by us,

back in '04, i test drove both GT and GTS before i got my mind set on tC. The two models behaved totally differently. 40 ponies really make up a lot in celicas. i think tC would sit somewhere between those two. also one of the reason for me to not buy celica was the rear visibility. the c-pillar was too wide for me and i didn't feel comfortable each time i looked behind through rearview mirror.

rear visibility is a bit tough in the Celicas but its just something you gotta get used to, and you do get used to it.

I said, "that's weak," not, "the car's weak." I don't think I could go back to 15"s.

The only downfall against the celica, the ZZ series motor in my oppinion was HORRIBLE

But lord the 7th gen celica chassis was spot on.

I couldn't stand the last gen Celica's. What a shame... I purchased a tC because I've always been a Celica guy... What better way than to take on the successor (regardless of it being "sportier" and what not).

Sport is what Toyota has been lacking for the last 10 years...

ok, gt is 140, lol

the Celi with the 'action package' look hot!! once its lowered, but yeah, the high reving ZZ motor in the gts acted more like a honda then a toyota, its even layed out the same way as the Kseries, and no torque like most hondas as well!!! but a nice car nonetheless

The celica was what i was looking for before i found the tc. I was in the market for something used and then i got a bigtime promotion, so i went for the new. Its really hard to find a nice celica gts thats hasnt been beaten on. I found a black one, loaded, with the action package and it was sooooo sweet from far away, but then i got up to it and its paint was coming off and it had some major problems. It was lowered just by cutting the springs, but i test drove it anyway,

its like your sittin in the cockpit of a rocketship. very low to the ground and the 6 speed tranny is fun but also leaves alot to be desired. I wasnt really impressed much. I drove the tc and i fell in love. TC WINS! :D

i owned a celica and now own a tc, i rather have the celi. it was way more fun to drive and it look like sex. the engine was great but the gear box was a bit on the weak side. the gears were placed to close together and sometimes grinded when shifting too fast. unfortunatly i wrecked my celi canyon racing an is300. lift was one of the best features in the car and it didnt have bad blind spots like the tc has.

my profile has a pic of my celi before i got stupid. if i could i would trade the tc in for another 02 celi.

GT-S came with 16's
