Since the radios are a dealer installed option anyway, you would think installing the iPod HU in an 05 would be simple, unless as toastbox said they require the VIN to order that head unit. I doubt they changed the HU connection to the wiring harness, since the mini connector has been standardized across the Toyota line for a few years now. I guess we'll see in a month or 2....

well, whatever those "chat" people say i take with a grain of salt. just like dealers, you might find someone with more/better information than the other. also, the people on the chats from scion are instructed to respond in certain ways to certain questions. just because he says something *can't* be done doesn't mean it isn't possible.

and i would assume as with any company, whenever they are asked about anything having to do with *any* kind of retrofit, the official answer is going to be NO. it's up to us to "prove" them wrong, haha!

omg i just called my sales representative and he said that the 06 should be coming out probably in November. I wanted to laugh so bad.. that has got to be totally wrong right? I want to trade in my 6 month old 05 TC and he said they got really good trade in value.. oh oh so tempting.

aarontrini, I agree with you...the first 5 minutes I had my car, I started receiving looks from other people (the first were in a convertible m3)...then got stopped at lights and had people asking me about it as well....although I'll still get people asking me about it....they all know what it is now, they just ask how I like it...I think I've sold 3 or 4, just on my testimony about the car (except the paint sucks).

as for the color change...I'm still glad I have the IIP...it will be fairly limited in production (does anybody know the exact number yet?) and if the new color (nautical blue) is the same as on the old mr2's, then I'm happy b/c it's an ugly color in my opinion...(now if it was nassau blue-98,99 vette or quasar blue 90-92 vettes then I'd be upset).

trust me ... when you have driven a car for 10 years with steering controls.. you REALLY miss it.. the stock 05 pioneer radio controls are not very user freindly..

anything can be done.... and it will be one of the first things i will look into when the 06's come out... the issue is going to be $$$$$$$$$ , how much money is the sterring wheel and head unit going to cost... wiring it all in is going to be the simple part...

IF they are smart.. they would have used the same airbag for the new steering so it will be just a matter of swapping it over.. . the radio should fit without any mods to the console..

For the regular headunit is the volume **** in the middle of the mode selector, or is it where the old volume buttons are? It's really hard to tell from the pics. The middle one looks like it has *****, but the top doesn't seem too different.

*Edit*
Just saw some more close-up pics in the other thread. Yeah, I like the placement of the volume ****.

yeah my 95 grand prix gtp has them PLUS.. one thing that im still trying to get use to going without is the HUD.. at first is it just a novelty to have all your info on the windshield.. then it actually becomes a safety feature... between the radio controls and the hud.. you never have to takes your eyes off the road.. i actually retro fitted a 97+ GP hud unit into my 95 . those newer HUDS flashed the radio station or cd track for 3 second on the windshield when you changed the station or volume...which made it even more of a safety feature..

i really don't expect ever to see a hud in the tc... but the radio controls will be nice..!!

It appears to be the button for the underdash and cupholder lights (or a button just like it for something else.)

the steering wheel doesn't look as nice as i expected. that silver plastic matches the center dash but it actually makes the steering wheel look cheapy to me compared to the 05 wheel (and i'm not just saying that because i am stuck with the 05 wheel ). also, they should have put the cruise control controls on the other silver part of the wheel. that way things would be even looking.

as for the headunit, it looks better than the 05 ones, especially the 6 disc changer with the extra dials instead of the buttons like on the single disc. the 6 disc one looks more like an aftermarket setup rather than a stock setup. but they are sure trying to get more people to buy the 6 disc by putting dials on it where there are buttons on the single disc.
