LED swap problems!!!
Ok I bought blue plcc-2 LEDs to do my swap. I had previously switched to green LEDs without a problem. When I put the blue ones in only about 6 of them actually come on. I accidentally bought the wrong size resistors so I haven't swapped those out yet but it should still light up just not as bright. I had to put it back together to go to work so I put the green LEDs back on the speedo and RPMs so I could see at night. Anyone with any idea of what is going on?
Thanks
Kyle

Blue and green LEDs don't have the same specs for voltage or current draw. Assuming you soldered them in correctly, the problem would be the resistors. The resistors control the current going to the LEDs. Blue LEDs need more current so there is a need for smaller resistance values.

Blue and green have virtually the same Vf ( forward v drop). You also do not need to swap resistors at all on the gauges for any color. I did hundreds of these, was one of the first to do them on the tc and designed the circuit mod everyone uses for the hvac led swap, so i can assure you of this.
You either have some bad leds out of the box or improper install.

To clarify for this application and the leds used, you can run blue and green in place of one another. Even on the hvac where the circuit mod is needed, you use the same size components for green and blue. On the gauges, all colors should light up fine without changing reisistors. You can change them so that brightness suits your wishes, but if they dont come on even without seappi g the resistors, there is another issue.

For this application it you use the same mods, which is exactly what i described above.
Like i said, i designed the mods for these that most others use. Trust me on this, you can put green or blue in the gauges, swap no resistors, and they will work. I have done red, blue, green, white, two tone, mixed colors and just about every other combination you can think of on these gauges, both with and without changing resistors out.

I'm going to take the cluster back apart tomorrow night and try swapping one of the blue LEDs that is on to the location of one that won't come on to find out if I have a bad batch of LEDs or not. To clarify, the side of the LEDs that has the little notch in it should be on whichever side the arrow is pointing? Cause that's what I did.
