Default Less than 2k miles on my 07 and already a ruined tire :(

Well, yesterday as I was walking back to my car I noticed a glimmer coming from my rear passenger wheel. I crouch down and upon close inspection I see a 4 inch steel rod that pierced the thread and exited the sidewall of my tire. Great I call around for a replacement OEM tire since the other 3 are practically brand new. The damn Turanzas are back ordered and those who can get them want like 250 for them!!!!!!! So I decided to call my local dealership. They say they can get factory take offs of the tire which is perfectly okay with me. West Covina Scion is offering the tire to me for 99 bucks, hopefully they can follow through and actually get one.

it was more like 200 miles for me. It was repairable though.

That is the exact same thing that happened to me the day after i bought my tc. Nobody in town had a tire, and everyone wanted 225.00 for it. I ended up ordering it through my dealership for 99.00, but i had to wait a week. I could not handle driving around with that stupid donut on so i bought a used tire for twenty five bucks.

99.00 is a good price, although I would just buy all new tires. I had Falken's on my tC, and when I traded-in the car, hooked up a fellow SL'er by switching my Falken's for his Turanza's. I honestly feared for my life when I drove with the Turanzas in the rain. And they just overall sucked. Get new tires.

I can't justify letting those brand new tires go to waste.

^ Same here. They'll wear out soon enough, then something more sticky can go on.

I lucked out. Although this looks horrible, the rod didn't puncture the tire and I didn't need to get a new one. Luckily West Covina Scion allowed me to return the dealer take off, I was fortunate to not need to throw money away. My luck may finally be changing for the better.

You are lucky. First week with my Scion I noticed people waving to me, I thought, "wow they must like the car!" little did I know that my rear right tire was getting shredded up cause I was driving on it for way too long (when it was sliced). Half of the inner side wall was torn up, and it cost me $197 from the dealer! how in the world did you guys get your tires for only $99.00?!

They are dealer take offs. Basically considered used tires that have very very (usually less than 10) miles on them.

I just got a tire replaced today. My 07 tc has 4000 miles, got a nail in the outer edge of the tire, not totally in the sidewall though... the tire was still inflated though. Pulled it out when I got home, and it went straight down.

I had to drive around with the most stupid looking spare ever, bright beige, for a week before I could get an appointment at the dealer (and have time to go). Looking at my car from behind it reminded me of a pirate with a peg leg...

Luckily I accepted the tire insurance when I bought the car, as I seem to be prone to getting things stuck in tires.

They put a matching yokohama s32a on, which was good, because I thought that the tire insurance place would try to screw me by making them put the cheapest possible that still came under the "like quality" that they say they'll replace with.

I see that tire for $188 at tire rack, but of course being a toyota dealer their price for it was around $250. Well, at least the tire insurance paid for itself already
