Default Lisence Plate Rattling.

Hey,
I own a scion tc, and i have two 10 alpine type Rs.
Every time i bump my music it sounds really good, yesterday i was cleaning my car and had my music on (not to max, somewhere around 20). I stepped out and walked around the back and heard some rattling noise, then i found out that my lisence plate was rattling. I only have the top two screws in, it doesnt have holes at the bottom and nor do i intend on drilling holes there, is there something i could use, like a strong type of tape?

Thanks!

Get the Dynamat for behind the plate, remove any external holder and screw it in securely. I just have 1 Kicker Comp CVR 10" and I did that before I even turned the system on.

I just taped some Q-Tips behind it, Worked like a charm for a long time. Now, at certain frequencies my license plate sings. Doesn't rattle, It screeches. Kinda weird.

This is an easy fix. My license plate used to rattle too, so the first step was to get rid of the license plate frame (I am sure you did that already) and the second step was to attach foam tape to the back of the plate. I considered sticking it to the back of the trunk, but I chose to remove the plate and stick it on the back of the plate instead. I used foam tape with a depth of about 5mm and attached long strips at the top, bottom, and sides of the back of the plate, enough to provide a cushion without being visible to the public. After I screwed it back on really tight, it didn't make any noise no matter how hard I pushed it or moved it. It's rock solid now. Btw, you can get foam tape at any hardware store and also online.

Bastard. I typed my reply before you posted this. But yes, I've used my roll of foam tape in at least 4 or 5 different locations in the tC.

Nice, i was thinking of doing such, but does rain affect it?
I thought it was doing it because i don't have a frame(had one but i kinda misplaced it).

Nah, the frame makes it even worse because you have more points of contact. I haven't had any problems with the rain and the foam.

Sweet, imma go get some tape foam tonight.

Well while im at sub topic, what would be a good way to color my sub box?
I got it out my brothers tahoe, its like a light brown carpet type.
He told me to spray paint it, but im not too sure what to use.

Hopefully someone else can answer that. I'm not a sound guy. I'm just a guy who hates rattles.

they sell a dynamat licence plate kit.
Its like 10 bucks and is basically a strip that goes on the back of the plate.

You might go to a local shop and see if they have some kinda of deadner for sale.

You kinda get raped for 10 bucks though,if its just for that its semi worth it

is the box carpeted or is it bare wood?

If its carpeted you would be better off redoing it.

If its wood you could spray it but it usually comes out bad.

Rape! Rape! You could use a 20-cent piece of a roll of foam tape to do the same job.
