Default Long trip coming up and have a question. Bugs/Saran

I am about to go see family 1200 miles away and do not want to have to scrape bugs off. Do you think a layer or two of saran wrap would help prevent most of the bug genocide on my nice new car? I know it will look weird but will it work?

Thanks.

I'd say give it a really good coat of wax instead, makes the bug removal pretty easy. Not sure if saran wrap will hold on for the road trip.

Everyone at the car shows uses the blue painters tape when it is time for the drive home. Looks bad but serves a purpose.

Hmmmmm That's not a bad idea. I wonder if it would work. I think it would stay on just fine. My only concern would be if it could harm the paint in some way by raising the temp and humidity under the wrap. I actually think you may have something here.

Yeah, I'm very familiar with blue painter's tape. I've used it to......paint. I actually like the Saran Wrap idea for two reasons. It's not putting any adhesives against the paint, and because it's clear, you won't look like you had to tape your car together after a wreck.

well like I said earlier, this wasn't for look. And like I also said earlier, the adhesive is nothing to worry about. If you go to any car shows, guys are covering their expensive cars with this stuff for the ride home. It will also be much easier to apply. Saran wrap is a pain in the ___ trying to cover my leftovers, let alone my car.

use the blue tape to hold on the saran wrap. and if your skeptical about the saran wrap doing damage just apply new sheets daily or every 6 hours or something

I dont see how the saran wrap would cause any damage , When I used to process these vehicles they came off the ships with white plastic wrap on the hoods , roofs , trunks and the surfaces on the doors . Granted it was a heavier plastic wrap but still plastic , and that stuff did occassionally leave residue behind
