Default Looking to buy a TC

I'm looking into buying a scion tc and i was wondering how much i was it would cost me.

I looked on the scion website and it says the base model is about $16,200 but when i go to yahoo or other dealer sites it says that the base model is more like $18,200. Is it normal for the dealers to list the price higher?

How much can i negotiate with the dealer? I roomate was saying that you can get it for as low as $15,000. Is that crazy?

That doesn't seem right. I was told that they have to sell scions at the same flat rate, everywhere(for base model). You should be looking at spending $16,900. Unless you get the "spec" model(which would be cheaper).

The $18,200 you mentioned would be close to the out-the-door price for one with no options. I got floor mats, satellite radio and TRD springs installed, for a total of $18,851 drive-away. Scion dealers aren't supposed to negotiate the base price (it's the same for everyone, like Saturn does), but it appears some might give you a deal on the options and/or throw in freebies.

What is the "spec" model?

So if a dealer post a price of $18,500 on there website is that the out the door price?

Should i go to a toyota dealership or is there a scion dealership? Is there even a difference?

Default pure pricing!

Scion only does pure pricing on all their vehicles. It really won't matter where you buy it from, it all just depends on what kind of extra accessories the manufacturer decided to put on. The price of the Scion TC is purely priced, anything extra in cost is because of added accessories.

Scion dealerships are usually part of a toyota dealership, so if u just find a toyota dealership, there should b a scion department in it. I've yet to c a scion dealership by itself.

Generally, Toyota dealerships will have a Scion section.

The Scion dealers are not able to negotiate on price. The Scion contracts with the Toyota dealers are attached to a no haggle policy.

The spec model is a tC that comes with no sun roof, steel wheels and wheel covers, it is a tuner edition. They are cheaper than the regular tC but they are also limited production.

Go speak with the dealer, they can't come down on the price, but they can't mark it up on you either, unless the car has options on it. You then have the option yourself of purchasing a car on the lot or waiting and ordering what you want.

Good luck.

The price depends on whether it's used or not. One time when I was getting my oil changed at the (st)dealership, they had a used pretty much STOCK 'o5 NB tC for $21K! I nearly laughed my a$s off since you can get a new for $18K. Also, take into consideration that dealers make little to no $$$ on these cars. So they add a bunch of crap (ex. leather interior, Ped Spoiler, Scion Security System, etc.) you really don't need. This again leads to the $$$ increase.

Now Private Party sales, those are completely different. You can find tCs between $13K and $19K. Just depends on the seller. If I were you, I'd stay away from the tC Spec model. For the little $$$ you save, you're better off just buying a regular tC. Good luck with whatever you do!

If you're money conscious, you might want to do what I did and look at slightly used cars. I got my 1year old tc with 18k miles for 15,500. (That didn't even include my trade-in)

I got 18" rims, trd exhaust, ground effects, trunk spoiler, 6disc player with tweeters, tint, floor mats, side-curtain airbags, and the medical kit. That would cost more than 15,500 if I had bought new...quite a bit more.

Straight from Scion.com:

Price menus are clearly posted in the dealership showroom for all products and services. Dealers are free to set their own prices.

Pure pricing is ___, anyway. I was looking forward to negotiating my first car purchase. I hear that people my age don't want the stress of dealing with haggling and negotiating that's involved in buying a car. Sissies.

That said, MSRP is $16,980 for a manual, $17,780 for an automatic (don't get an automatic). This in no way means that this is what a dealership will ask for the car. Shop around. Even if all the dealerships ask the same base price, option prices may vary. Certain dealerships may be offering things like the post above. The dealership where I bought my car gave me a free lifetime powertrain warranty and 2 extra 17" wheels. So...even if they can't negotiate on the price of the car, they can offer you extra incentive to buy your car from them instead of another dealership.
