Default Low Quality Floor Mats

While cleaning my interior I noticed what looked like some light colored dirt on the driver's floor mat. It wasn't dirt, the carpeting has already worn through to the backing. I've only had the car six weeks and driven 3, 000 miles. This seems like a cheap spot in an otherwise fine car. Has anyone else noticed their front mats coming apart like this? The spot is where my left heel rests while my foot is on the dead pedal.

Are you talking about the optional floor mats or the stock carpeting?

I ordered the tC floor mats from www.mcgeorgeparts.com and they are holding up very well. I suggest you get some type of floor mat to save the stock carpet.

I have Scion floormats and I take the detachable carpet section out for the driver's side. This leaves a rubber mat, which is holding up fine. I left the carpet section in on the passenger side. I have 7000 miles on my car.

Yeah, quite a few people have taken the mats back under warranty to get them replaced already. I don't use the carpet on driver's side because of ergonomic reasons though.

Thanks for the responses. It's the Scion floor mats I'm talking about, not the carpeting. I'll see if the dealer will replace it. Maybe I should pull the carpeted panel out of the mat and use it to cover the hole when the rubber part wears through.

My driver's side floormat has grooves where my foot rests on the gas but I figure that's inevitable... I'm not sure if it's wearing through the backing, perhaps I should take a closer look...

They have a 3 year warranty like the other parts. Return them for new ones.

Yep. Had my car for a month now and already the driver's side is starting to get some fading where my right foot pivots. Good to know it's under warranty, I'll be taking advantage of it soon enough.

I would'nt. Find some QUALITY aftermarket ones. Hell the ones I bought at K-Mart were better than the scion mats. The factory mats are really crap. If you want the logo on them, get the mats from k-mart or an auto parts store, get the logo, and go to one of those monogramming places in the mall.

Wait, does the tC come with NO floormats of any kind, or does it come with just a cheap set that everyone is replacing?

None. They are optional.

Stock tC mats are just fine. 5 months, 4500 city miles - they are as good as new, and I have a 5-speed. Have no idea what you are talking about.

hmmm, one post saying no floor mats come with it, and another saying the "stock ones" (implying the ones that came with it) are fine, hmmmmmm

Stock does not mean that they came with the car - they are an option. Mine actually came from mcgeorgeparts.com - $70 or so for the set.

Same here. 4000 miles and the mats are still looking good. However, I will get my next set at mats.com and have them as rubber.

I was wondering if anybody got the floor mat from EBAY... ? They're the ones that comes with aluminium plate on the driver side for the heel-toe shift ... and they have TRD emblems.
