i bet i could get a modded chevy aveo to out run the tC...does that mean it should be in this comapro? no...just face facts, the tC is NOT a performance car...for gods sakes it has a glass roof!

--"There is a thread in the xB forums somewhere that I started called “you know you drive an xB when…” and one of the comments was “tC owners try to race you every chance they get because they know it’s a sure win” and that’s the attitude you guys all give off. and that’s why a lot of ppl in the xB/xA forums don’t like tC drivers. We know you can go faster, we don’t care."
And WE (tC drivers) know there are faster cars out there with 6 speed trannies, suede seats, and cool badging (R32, WRX STI, SI). Who gives a flying F*ck!! If I could afford a WRX STI I would own one!! And I would own a 911 turbo for that matter!! Go back to the xB forums! How you have any say on a tC in the first place is beyond me. Do you own one? Ever driven one to it's limits? Well I can answer yes to both of those questions! And for the money you can't find a better equiped car out there, I looked extensively. Maybe faster, but not trimmed out nicer. Mine has custom leather, powder coated callipers, etc, all goodies right from the dealership. We know your car isn't fast. That's a dumb point to make. Don't lump all tC drivers into one group. We are not all ricers that go out looking to race anything on wheels. Some do, but that goes for any car brand. Im out!

Back on topic...
About the C&D comparison ... its a lot like the Ford commercial where they run an Accord and a Camry against the V6 AWD Fusion and say the Fusion out performs the others. If you're gonna do a comparison at least make it apples to apples.

honest review of the tC. Scion didnt pay for a thing, and no car companies are aloud to advertise on the website so there is no bias.

i feel that these cars should be tested based on price $$$, you cant test a $20k civic si, versus a $16K scion tc, it just would not be fair that the si has $4k more in performance, what should be tested is a tc with trd supercharger, trd shocks and springs, trd swaybars, and trd exhaust, which should bring the pricetag to about $20k, now that would be fair, money versus money heads up!!

...they're all freelance writers. I've been on some of the vehicle test trips (specifically Toyota trips) with these guys and the guys from jalopnik. They all have their favorites and their favorites effect what they write just like everyone else.

mazda 3 -7.3
altima - 7.2
cobalt - 7.1
v6 stang - 6.5
How about 1/4 mile times???? Like Wyatt_Herb stated???
Let me show you what you missed, OR refused to look at....
ALL of the vehicles that you stated are well over $1k more than the TC, so...
These are all the base models which you were referring too that are in the "SAME CLASS" as the TC.
(if your wondering if i actually searched YES, i GOOGLEd all of them)
1/4 mile times stock
TC -15.7
Mazda 3 -16.3
Altima(2.5) -16.0
Cobalt (LS) -16.6
V6 Stang -15.4
I guess the TC really is a Slow car compared to the ones in it's class... hUH??
Funny how you only mentioned 0-60 times!
p.s.
No i'm not trying to start another point-less arguement, all i'm trying to do is show you that even though some TC owners may believe that the TC is "FAST", and others like you may beg to differ.... The TC is in NO way a Slow car when compared to the ones in it's class, or the ones you stated!!!!
I think the real issue is that you can't buy a tC with the supercharger included with your loan. Call it the "tC-s" or whatever. It could just be a regular tC with the TRD SC and that's it. IMHO, Scion dropped the ball by making it more difficult to buy the SC for our tC than it is to get a Cobalt SS that comes supercharged from the factory. You've got to have an extra loan or cash for the ~$4000 installed supercharger. Who's going to take out 2 loans to get 50 more HP?
This could be the math for the "tC-s"
$16,400 - car
$3200 - SC
$500 - labor or extra fees
$20,100 for a factory supercharged tC. Now it's competitive with the Civic Si and others. Maybe Scion needs to come up with a supercharger design that can get a proper warranty, that would be a good start.

Im anxious to see how the 2009 tC is going to look hopefully scion stands by what they say "they listen to the younger consumers" Who knows maybe we will see a factory supercharges tC...
on top of the $20,100 add
-TRD shocks/struts and springs.
- TRD Upgraded clutch
- LSD
- Racing seats.
- Exhaust
- 18in Wheels
Then you might be even to what the Si offers. There is more to the Si then just the power, it has ALOT of extra stuff packed into it as do all the other cars (compared to there base models) right in that price range. With all that stuff your prob looking at a $25,000+ tC and that’s crazyness.

Base - 16,400
Fog Lights - $425
Ped Spoiler - $423
Sport Steering Wheel - $299
Side Airbags - $650
Scion Security - $469
TRD Muffler - $525
TRD Struts/Shocks - $550
TRD Springs - $199
TRD Clutch - $650
TRD Quick Shifter - $335
TRD Supercharger - $3200
Install - $500
Recaro Seat (Driver) $1300
Recaro Seat (pass) $1300
TOTAL
$27,223
i couldnt find labor rates to install all the other TRD parts but i dont think it would be a strech to think after labor you would be paying $28,500 - $29,000 for a tC so that you could keep up with an Si...The options i added were items that the Si has that a base civic doesnt.

I have said this before, and I'll say it again. I didn't buy the tC thinking I had an STi or EVO killer. I bought it because I liked the car. I didn't mod it with a turbo and a carPC to show off to anyone, I did it because it goes with my tastes and makes the car more fun for me. I rarely race, and usually only when someone is really annoying me and goading me. I have never ever pulled up on an xB and tried to race one, in fact more often than not, I give them a wave and a smile for owning a Scion. Many people make the point that for $XX dollars you could get the (insert car here). The overlooked element is that if that was what I wanted, than that's what I would have bought. I liked the tC styling, was comfortable with the Toyota heritage, and liked how modular a lot of the car is. I enjoy the fact that I am not pigeon-holed as a racer as would have happened if I bought the Evo 9 or STi. I like the cops not eyeing me down because I have one of the aforementioned cars. I like how (at least for now) every 4th or 5th car I see is not a tC, unlike a Civic. I like how I can park my car in a lot and not have it walk off so some 16 year old kid can do a motor swap.
I guess my whole point is that every tC owner I know doesn't sit there and have dreams of glory, and being the baddest car on the road. We accept the mediocrity of our cars while stock and embrace the freedom of making it our own, making it stand out from it's initial middle of the road specs. As for the other 95-98% who don't mod their cars, how big of an issue would a 0-60 time be for them anyway?

^^^That is the most inetllegent/simple way to express the feelings of a TC owner!!!
I couldn't agree with you more. I'm glad somebody finally said it...
To add to that: We accept the fact that we are not the fastest most-elegant machine out there, but at the same time some of us try to stand-out from the crowd.
Yes at time some become a semi-fast machine, or a incredible show car. But most of the TC owners are only trying to personalize their ride to show some flavor/attitude and many times other people think that we are only trying to show that we're better than others and thats not true.

HAHAHA as usual there are one or two people in grips with reality while the rest are in la la land.
I was talking to my friend today about cars, and the tc. I mentioned some of the things said on here to him. He's also a mechanic and been into racing for years. He taught me a new word today FANBOY. Looks like most of the people on here are just that

just enjoy your car for what it is, a smaller, better looking, two door Camry with a sweet sunroof.

doesn't seem like it's getting ignored.. it got 5th place. And their review of tc was very favorable. I'm not sure what you want them to do. don't expect them to go head over heals over tC. tC is a competent car not some extreme pure driving machine.
