Default Meeting a dealership for the first time

I have narrowed it down to 2 dealerships in SC where I'd like to buy my car from. Even though the price of the Scion tC is the same everywhere, I'm mainly focusing on the documentation fee. Since I don't deal very often with dealerships because I don't buy cars that often, I was wondering whether or not I should be frank with them when I go meet the dealership and tell them I'm narrowing down my choice. If I'm going to give someone $20K, I want to be happy and satisfied that I bought my car from them. The 2 local dealerships here are charging $400 for doc fees as opposed to
$130 & $200 elsewhere. That's why I'm leaving town to buy my car.

THANKS!

OK Erric1234 and Yanki01, I'm not in TX and am asking a question regarding SC. Please PM each other about free gas.

I would look past the document fees and look to which dealer is better as far as service and all. Yes one might be $150 cheaper, but the more expensive one might have better service. When spending $20,000..$150 is chump change. So I personally think you should focus on which dealer has better sales service, and parts service, and service depertment.

Actually, now that I think about it, it's really just a general question that asks about all dealerships not necessarily in SC so posting this in my region wouldn't matter. Just want advice regarding my question. That's all.

well if you want a lower fee, then its obvious go somewhere else? You say you can get it cheaper elsewhere, then give someone else your business!

try dealerships here in central Florida where the doc fees will run you anywhere from $599 to $750

Man, and I thought $370 was bad. I have some advice..... the dealer is NOT your friend and they are NOT there to help you. They are there for business and to try to make some extra $$ aside from the sale.
