This might be dumb but how do you warm up the car?
I'm talking about for a manual Tc. In the morning when I first turn on the engine, I know you have to let the car warm up for a little bit but how long do you let it warm up for? I know for the automatics the rpm's will automatically drop down to under 1, but for manual I dont know and it's my first manual car. Sorry if this is a stupid question.
modern engines need no warm up time per se. Just drive it gently for the first 5-10 minutes, and you'll be fine.
BTW, yes, my 5spd also does idle sorta high in the morning, but man does it make for easssyyy launches out of the garage in the mornings! :D

I usually start the car, put on seat belt, wait another 15-30 seconds and I'm off. But thats for this type of weather.
I believe it is a mistake to turn the car on and let it sit. At least that is what I was taught. Start it up and drive it slowly until the temp light goes out. For me it works out great as the car is warm when I reach the highway.

All vehicles "warm up". It's a misconception that you should do it in idle. Just warm it by driving smooth initially.
As it states in the Owner's Manual:
"The multiport fuel injection system/sequential multiport fuel injection system in your engine automatically controls the proper fuel-air mixture for starting....Engine should be warmed up by driving, not in idle. For warming up drive with smoothly turning engine until engine coolent temperature is within normal range."
We've discussed this quite a bit and this thread actually belongs in the car care & maintenance forum. I'm gonna lock this one.
