Might be a simple brake question...
Hey Guys, hoping you can help me out here. A few months back my ABS light came on so I brought my 07 tC to the dealer to get it looked at. Turns out while garaged, a "rodent of some kind had chewed through the driver side brake wires" (or so they claim). The wires were replaced / repaired and the ABS light has not come on since.
However, my Brake light is on almost constantly now. When it was still consistently cold here in NY the light would be on 99% of my driving time. Now that it has warmed up a bit it seems to be turning off when I maintain a speed without accelerating. Since it's sporadic and (seemingly) climate related I'm leaning towards it being a tire issue. I currently have the Fuzion tire with a good amount of tread left which is why I'm baffled.
I guess what I'd like to find out is if its possible that there was something messed up when the dealer worked on the ABS that would cause this? Or what else could be the issue here?
Ah and before you suggest just going to the dealer and having it looked at - since an alleged animal caused the damage to the car initially they "did me a favor" by allowing it to be covered under the warranty - but warned that any future problems that may have been caused by this would not be covered... and I'd like to avoid the $70 diagnostic fee if at all possible.
Thank you for your time.

when the parking brake light comes on while driving, it is the car detecting low brake fluid levels, which could be low brake pads, low brake fluid, or both. what is your mileage? it coul be about time.
I'm at 57k on the original brakes/brake pads. At my last oil change 55k my mechanic did look at them and said they were still in good shape... I'm thinking I should maybe get a second opinion now.
Thank you for the info!

The light will come on to indicate low fluid, which, if there is no leak, is most likely due to the pads being worn. Replace the pads (if that is the case) and the fluid level will go back to normal. If you have that many miles on the stock pads, I would pretty much bet money that it is about time to replace them
