miles and maintenance

Default miles and maintenance

just trying to get a feel for the scion tc's reliability and general maintenance/milage expectations. this is my first toyota product. been a lifelong honda owner. how many miles on your tc and what maintenance has been done at what milage?(besides consumable items like oil, brakes, tires, etc...) thanks

The manual tells you what to do at what interval. The only thing that I've seen go out prematurely is the water pump.

i know that. i like to care of my chit and do pretty much everything on my own. just wanted to know from you guys with higher milage what you have done service wise and when? thanks for the tip on the water pump though. my 09' MT is sittin on 85700 miles right now. as far as i know its only had oil, filter, and air filters done so far. thanks

All the major maintenance comes in at 120k. Other than changing the oil and air filter, the water pump is the only thing that began to fail. Although I think that was an issue with 05-07 and was addressed by the time the 08 came out.

There's no SL special maintenance schedule. You fix things when they break or take precaution and do it beforehand. Since you bought the car used, a tune up wouldn't hurt. Plugs, coilpacks, injector cleaning, cooling system flush, TB cleaning, and a trans fluid change. But like I said, and according to the manual, none of this is required until 120k.

Holy hell, 09 with 85k? I just turned 34xxx the other week lol

couldn'y pass it up. a totally stock minty inside and out 09' toyota for 7900. it spent a lot of time on the highway my old civic was at 214,450.

btw, i called my bud who works parts at a toyota dealer and confirmed scheduled mintenance is a hundred grand for coolant and MT fluid. i'm still thinkin of puttin some eneos in the gearbox at 90 thousand anyway
