Default Moon Roof problem

I know that this has been discussed a lot but here's a possible solution to it. Everyone knows that the moon roof leaks air and squeals when you drive at high speeds, you might just need to do a reset on the windows.

If you have ever disconnected your battery, you've had to reset your windows by rolling them all the way down and all the way back up, same with your moon roof. I was leaving an indoor car show (which I got best in Class ) and I reconnected my batter and then I remembered I had to do that annoying reset.

I thought that I might be able to fix it simply by doing the reset. It worked. No more squealing.

So give it a try and post here if it works or not.

I have the air squealing problem but I also have a totally different problem. (BTW tried resetting before never helped it).

When I had the sunroof completely open for a while. I wanted to close the sunroof, the sunroof closes halfway to the exact point where it is about to close the wind deflector too... from that point the sunroof opens back up. It's an annoying problem and only happens certain times. I'll probably need to get that check out by the dealer.

^yeah, that just happened to me. you just need to grease the tracks. i took it to the dealer and that's all they did. you should just DW-40 the heck out of it and yeah. it has something to do with the wind deflector not moving smoothly.

^^^ Awesome thx. I'll probably try to find some Lithium Lube... that creamy looking lube. Can I probably just get it at my local Autozone or Pepboys?

what i found was something that is impervious to water, such as silicone spray. white lithium spray can work, if you can spray it just right, otherwise it just foams up and doesn't get down into those joints. WD-40 would work, but I stick with silicone as it's a water repellant as well as conditions the rubber gaskets.

I have some silicon spray I mainly used for electric stuff since it cannot conduct electricity. I'll guess I'll try out the stuff on my sunroof. Thanks.

OMG I sooo hi-jacked this thread

- to the original poster-silversurfer897-

the problem is that the wind is lifting up the panel. And that's because the control cables that the sunroof motor uses to open and close isn't tight. I remember something about Toyota changing that motor and assembly (including these cables) for the 06 models. This is why most 06's aren't seeing the roof lift up.

Resetting it, might have worked if it reset the motor controls to tighten up the control cables.. have to see if it works over the long haul.
