Default My 2006 Flint tC Project

Well folks, ordered me a 2k6 Flint tC with the airbags and security system, and will be adding tint to the order today.

Been reading a lot about mods and what not, and plan on doing all the installation work myself. Fortunately my old man is a long time gear-head, and my buddy works for Toyota and is big into mods and what not.

That being my support system, here is a shopping list for things to do. I think suspension will be first, then the exhaust system....

Round 1
--SUSPENSION--
Strut(Front)
DC Sports Carbon Steel Upper Front Strut Bar tC
Price: $95

SWAY BAR(Front/Rear)
Hotchkis Sport Sway Bar Set tC (front & rear)
Price: $269

COILOVER
TEIN Basic Coilover System
$749.00

Round 2
--EXHAUST/INTAKE--
Cat-Back
Greddy EVO2(hp?)
Part#:10116691
Price: $599.00

ZPIracing S-pipe(5hp)
$225.00

DC sports header(5hp)
$295.00

ZPIracing 02 sim card(to bypass the CEL)
$95.00

Injen Cold Air intake(12hp)
$219.00

Round 3
---DRIVETRAIN---
B&M Short Throw Shifter(TRD $280.63)
Price: $112.05

Clutch/Flywheel ???

Round 4
TURBO (in the distant future)

ANY suggestions/ideas for more things i may have missed to add into the mix? Or warnings against certain products/reccomendations of certain products? I'm not too knowledgable about engine components, so when i eventually make it to a turbo, i'm sure i'll need to replace stock internals for a stage 2 turbo, yes?

Need you tuning guru's to point out things i may have missed or to usher me in the correct direction.

Just curious.
Why would you touch your stock exhaust if you plan to get a turbo? And the intake?

I guess you could sell it?...

Well, I'm so new to tuning, I wasn't sure if adding a turbo ment a new exhaust system, or if it could function on stock. Gotta remember, i'm NEW to this, so i'm just building a pre-game plan

as far as intake goes, i can't drop 4k right now into a turbo, so i might as well play with a N/A system and learn a little.

That makes sense.

If you are going to stay NA for a while...

Stick with a 2.25'' exhaust piping. Ususally when somebody goes Forced Induction they go with a larger more free-flowing exhaust (2.5 or 3).

Keep your stock clutch and flywheel for now. Whenever you go FI you might want to upgrade it then.

Also I hear AlphaWerks (or however its spelled) is the way to go for headers. I still think you need something to prevent a CEL.

Don't know too much about the Injen but I here the Weapon*R SRI is a good choice. The gains are still minimal but you dont have to worry about a bypass valve if you are driving in the rain or through puddles.

I have the TWM short throw and its great. But when it comes to short shifters I think they are all in a close running.

As far as the suspension goes, your future setup looks promising.

If you definitely plan to go FI, I wouldnt buy any piece for an exhaust or intake. If/when you go FI, youre exhaust manifold and intake will have to be replaced anyway. Keep your suspension setup and get a short throw.

But thats just me.

So, outta that setup, since I definitely plan to go FI in the future, i'll wanna drop EVO2 exhaust(Greddy's webpage seemed to say it was a setup for N/A AND Turbo use), the DC Sport header, and a CAI/SRI. Awsome, thanks for the help

Any reccomendations for breaks/break systems?

I mean you can still get the exhaust (minus the headers). But if I was going FI I would want to get as much power as I could out of it and get a full 3 inch.

::EDIT::

As stated above, the Injen can convert.

As for brakes...
You can just get stainless steel brake lines and a good set of brake pads. I hear StopTech makes a good set of lines.

As far as a turbo goes in the future, i've seen a couple Stage 2 and Stage 3 offered by different companies. Would serious replacement of stock internals need to be done to support such a hefty turbo? I'm looking to push 300+whp, but maintain it as a daily driver (no racing for me, I like having my organs in tact)

If I was to definately have to get an exhaust I would just get the SS CreativeCompacts Borla Axle-Back. Just for sound really.... w/ a very very very very small gain that you probably wont feel. HAHAHAHA

www.creativecompacts.com

For FI:
I dont know any 3 inch exhausts for the TC. If there is a local performance shop around your way, get info on a custom.

I dont know the full potential of the 2az-fe, but if want that much power you might want to invest in new pistons, rods, cams, etc...

There is a guy on this forum, I believe his username is MattyTC. Ask him what he thinks, he has much knowledge and know-how of FI.
