10 months
18k miles
zero complaints.
no creaks, no rattles, fit and finish is holding up fine, minor scuffs on the inside and outside, but hey, its a car, it's meant to be used... I'm getting 26 mpg and that's driving fast with a bike rack on the roof. clutch/shifter still feel tight, and engine purs like the day I drove it off the lot. still can't believe that I got this car for only $16k, especially since the average selling price of a vehicle these days is $25k.
that is all.

I'm at 4K+ miles with my FM tC, and it's been some of the most satisfying 4K miles I have ever driven, specially after my experience in a what could be considered the ultimate junk brand, VW!
It's like paradise just knowing that my tC's CEL, ABS, Alternator and all the other idiot lights won't stay lit up everytime I start the car in the morning. Or nothing on the car falls off before 10K miles. And the car will NOT leave me stranded on the road.
My tC has also NO rattles on the roof and rear hatch and sounds like a vault when you close the doors. I would consider the paint to be OK having no chips or road debris caused damage at all.
If there are any complaints, they are minor and can be attributed to the price of the car. I don't like the fact that the passenger seat does not have the memory feature when you slide it forward for the rear passenger (Can the driver side seat parts be adapted to the passenger side to get the memory feature??). I also don't like how the rear tonneau cover clips keep slipping off the rear seat headrest posts. There is also that throttle lag, but I've gotten so used to it that it does not bother me anymore. There's also that slight throttle stumble when the car is still cold, but I have learned to let it warm up a little to make it go away (45 seconds tops) before first driving off.
All I can say its, the tC IS one of the BEST cars you can buy out there at $17K!!
The best thing is, the car gets so many compliments and admiring looks from a lot of people I encounter. I think Toyota can sell the tC at 20+K base with just a few improvements in trim level and still have a lots of buyers.

im sorry to hear your complaints........im running on 22000 miles now and my flint mica paint has no problems what so ever beside some road debri dings on the front bumper.....every squeak and noise can be noted but yet easily fixed......
i've got 2500 miles on my almost 4-month old tc. i haven't really had any problems with it except for one thing:
on the door panel, there is a screw in the door handle bezel that is covered by a lil plastic clip. well, earlier this week i noticed that the clip was pulled back as if i had taken a flathead screwdriver and popped it out. not only that, but the lil fugger wont pop back in place!!
i dont' know how the hell it came out in the first place. i never accidentally knocked it out with my finger. luckily it hangs on a lil plastic hinge that keeps it from falling off, but i wonder if that will make it harder to replace? piece of shiat. dealer better take care of this when i go in for my free oil change.

While I was very tempted to purchase the '05 tC, a Golden Rule concerning new cars is to keep away from the first-year models. There are guaranteed TSBs associated with them. I'm not busting '05 owners...I understand it's hard to resist a car like the tC.
Now, when I start noticing things about my '06 - I'll insert foot, open mouth. Until then...please don't complain about problems that have been covered well before an RS.1 (which is much more an '05 build than an '06) was even released.

04 is the first for the tc if im not mistaken sometime last year is when the tc shipped from what iwas told?im probably wrong?? i have an 05 which should be considered a 06 but i dont have any problems whatsoever except for the paint easily chipping. i think it should have more horses though. no sunroof rattles no clunking noises nothing is wrong as far a i can tell. i have over 7000 miles on my tc
Hmmm... well, I've had my tC since June 2nd, and it has just over 3500 miles on it.
I've noticed a few spots where the paint job could have been better (on my pedestal spoiler there is a spot that didn't get enough clear coat I think), but I can't complain yet about it, as it doesn't seem to be getting any worse or peeling. I'm watching it for now.
...and as long as I remember that I shouldn't tailgate, I won't get the chips in the front end from the rocks people kick up either! (not to mention the windshield should last longer too).
I do think that there is alot of road noise, but that is because of the low profile tires, and the fact that the car still IS a hatchback! There is alot less sidewall to eat up the bumps and noise from the road, and hatchbacks always are louder.
The car IS loud with road/air noise though. I notice it mostly when there is people in the car and we are trying to have a normal level conversation. I plan to add a ton of soundproofing mat to the inner panels and such. That should help with the road noise, and also insulate it better for my own stereo preferences too.
All in all, I would say the car is a good value.
Many things can be attributed to the way that it is treated and driven, and taken care of I think.

05 is the first model year and new models come out summerish of the year before. I got 9k on mine and the paint is ok, a small rattle in the back (Detroit roads sure dont help those things), and get about 28 mpg. The mileage isnt that great because of the gearing. 4.something final drive means you are going in the high 3k rpms on the highway. If you want good mileage get something with better gearing for it. Its made to be somewhat sporty at the cost of some mileage.
