Is my new tC a magnet for damage?
Since I bought my tC about a month ago, I have had the hardest time keeping it out of harms way. I generally park it way out in the boonies of parking lots, it sits in my garage at night, and I really don't drive all that much besides to work and back.
So far, I have 2 very small dents on the hood near the drivers side of the windshield (no idea how these happened), it was hit on the passenger door handle by the door of a beat up old Chevy truck that a girl at work drives, it got hit by another door of a white vehicle just above the passenger rear tire, and it has fairly large (1 1/2 inch long by 1/4 wide) white scuff under my drivers door that I just discovered today that I haven't been able to look closely enough at yet to see if I can buff it out.
I know its very possible that I'm just way too **** and observant of this car since its my very first vehicle, but I am fairly confident that my Jeep I used to drive never got beat up this frequently except when I took it 4 wheeling. Especially not just being parked!.
Very frustrating. Now I need to see if a paintless dent repair can be done on the hood, and hopefully I can buff out the orange paint on my passenger handle, and the white paint on the pass rear quarter and the white scuff under my drivers door.
Sorry for the rant.

The paint seems kind of soft, thats probably why you are finding these scratches...after 19,000 miles roughly i mostly see chips being my biggest problem and scratches that come out after a good wax.

PDR places can remove hood dings - they've done this on my old cars before as long as it's not at the very front.
Regarding the paint marks - try using Turtle Wax bug and tar remover. Over the weekend, I was in my car sitting in a parking lot, and an old guy backing up hit my rear bumper. It put green paint marks along it and I was able to remove it all. It works very well on removing paint and other stubborn marks.

My tC is on the highway 24/7 dealing with road construction and tons of semis and dump trucks. There's always dirty trash trucks that go over our horrible roads and drop rocks/dirt constantly like an avalanche about to rape my car. But I only have 3 tiny pin-sized chips on the front bumper and that's it. IMO the paint has held up better than some German cars that I've owned.

i have 10k miles, 2 door dings and the whole front end of my car has sand / rock chips alll over it, black wax covers it up pretty nicely for me.
As for damage though ... so far i have had a kid riding his bike hit me (2500$) and 2 old ladys trying to parallel park hit me, and 2 door dings. its going to be in the body shop for the 3rd time next week after 6 months of owning it

That I just like you I park in the middle of nowhere in parking lots the one day I ran into Walgreens for a min, I come out to see the lady next to me in a Caddy dinged my door really bad. Then somehow on my hatch I have a dent there too...Hmm...My old car never had dents like this.
