MY pics on eBay without my permission!
This guy, Milkspeed, on eBay is selling a fake CF upper grille and using pics of my ride to sell his product He/she has never emailed me asking for permission, and my grille is from an RS2.0...I have emailed him to remove my pics and have emailed eBay customer service to end the auctions. Anything else you guys know of that I can do? I am fully prepared to go to court over this, I have the time and the money....

I actually went through this with a car I used to own. My car ended up in mag ad's and all over ebay. After doing some research I found out that there is nothing you can do if he took the pic him/her self or got it off a public web page. That is why most company's will water mark their pics. It sucks that it happened to you but as far as I can tell there is nothing you can do.

Haha... I ran into this with a side mirror overlay auction and my car. I had bought some other overlay off of the guy and noticed my car in another one of his auctions. When I paid for the one I got, I included a little note about how disappointed I was to see my car in one of his auctions... so he refunded my shipping. But he's still using my pic:

i went through it with my geo and lambo doors. a guy was selling information on how to do lambo doors the cheap way when i had the decah kit at the time. keep in mind if he did not take the photo he has no rights to it and therefore you can take legal action. nobody wants to lose their business over a photo and they will remove it.

is there really any reason to care? Personally I like it when my car is on websites or flyers etc. It's not like your address is printed on the web page. As far as watermarking your pics, I don't see the point unless you are going to make money yourself off of them.

um yes there is a reason to care. in the case with the doors i had a 1500 dollar kit and they were selling a how to kit for 100 bucks saying i used that kit. makes your car look cheap.

Does your name appear on the website? How many people know it's your car? I can see if it's a totally crap product how you could be offended, but don't you have better things to do? It's not worth my time or money to worry about such things, lol.

I think its a huge deal as well. I have a thread here somewhere where they have multiple shots of my ride selling my bodykit as a knock off brand bodykit.
Advertising is a VERY expensive business. People pay alot of money for pictures and to get their stuff out to the public.
The companies that use pictures and all without permission, are STEALING. They arent paying for what should be payed for.
I have put more into my car than I have payed for my car. And now someone is making money off of that fact. They arent paying anything for advertising and they are selling fake copyrighted materials. Thats called stealing.
To the OP, there isnt much you can do.

I know what you mean about putting money into your car I'm right there with you.
I just don't get the "up in arms" attitude that you guys have. If you don't copyright your photos and they are on a public forum I'm pretty sure they are fair game.
I would think that everyone would have better things to do with their time.
Just my .02

People copyright their pictures that appear on the web for this reason. If not, others can use them since there is no legal owner of the picture.

ok, I have taken all my pics down, everywhere and watermarked them all. Will post them up again soon...
and yes, I am taking it seriously, because it's not right to steal other people's pictures without their knowledge or consent, especially if you are going to be making money off them AND if the product is crap. I don't even have the grille that is advertised in the auction. Eventually, the auction will die but I'm not taking the chance in the future of someone stealing my hard earned pics. If the seller would have asked me then it would have been a compliment, but going behind someone's back is wrong.
