still having a hard time understanding why you are so upset?

It's your car and you can do with it what you want, but is it worth all the stress and hateful feelings?

 

Dug, I am going to start an auction on ebay selling your car.
Would that make you mad?
Or your house?

Wouldnt that upset you? No they arent selling his car, but they are selling parts off of his car.


Or maybe a better analogy, I am going to use a picture of your house with all your personal belongings in it and sell the mailbox outfront of the house.

Something that is personally yours, that you put time and effort and money into, and some yahoo is exploiting it?

I know the internet is wide open to people, but its just rude.

 

If it's not a big deal, then why do photographers copyright their pictures?

It has to do with people being shady, and doing business the wrong way. I am also an eBay seller and it's just plain wrong. Don't start making me out to be insane with anger...all I am saying is now I have to copyright my pics and I am ____ed someone went behind my back.

I'm not losing sleep over this, my watermarking program did everything WHILE I was asleep, lol.

of course that would make me mad, but that is not what is happening here. When you post pictures on a public forum that is the chance you take. I see where you are coming from, I have more than the purchase price in mods on my car and I post pics all over the place. If the guy I bought my armrest from used pics I posted of my car to sell his product it wouldn't bother me. Deft racing has a picture of my car on their website for the carbon fiber hood I bought from them. He asked me if it would be alright, but if he didn't I wouldn't care. I can see that she is upset that they are using her picture to sell a product that she doesn't have on her car, but like I said is it really worth getting that upset?

 

What's your definition of upset? Posting a thread about it? I don't think that's being uncalled for...I am letting people on here know this is what has happened and this seller is being shady. I'm not calling him/her an a-hole, in fact my email to the seller was very professional.

All I asked was if anything can be done about it, so please stop making me look like the bad guy here and move on...

 

Think of it this way... say some guy took the picture that Deft is using and then used it to advertise the hood that he was selling but his hood isn't as good as the one that you bought from Deft. However people buy the guy's hood 'cause it was cheaper and they see the pic of YOUR car on the site and think that that's what the hood that they are ordering is gonna look like and are very disappointed when it doesn't fit the same. Now, think if this disapponted person sees your car at the meet and then starts in on you because of the hood they bought; its possible that they will transfer the bad fit blame to you because after all, its your hood that's in the picture.

I'm glad that the OP watermarked her files, by just grabbing her pics to use in advertising, they did commint theft (after all, she was not compensated for the images).

 

Watermarks are good.

 

I was going to watermark them in the first place, but I didn't think the pics would look good. I am not concerned about that anymore, lol, you guys can still get the just of the image:

As far as my definition of upset, in your first post you said you had the time and money to fight it. I just asked why it bothered you so much.

I'm not hating, and have no problem with you and didn't mean to upset you. I am sure that we will run into each other at some point, after all we are in the same car club, lol.

 

That sucks Corina, sorry to hear about that. As already said, I don't think theres anything you can do since once it's on the web it's "public domain". But I understand what you're saying it's still BS. The least they could do is at least tell you they're going to do it!
