As the others have said, glad you are all ok. The car itself held up VERY well even besides the airbag system doing its job. Glad they built in some decent side protection!

I'm glad you're ok and surprised you had the thought to take a picture. Thanks for sharing it with us, makes me personally feel better about getting that side airbag option on mine.

I swear there should be some sort of compensation when someone who's driving a giant freaking truck plows into someone who's driving a car. Eh, whatever, glad you're ok.

The airbags are in the A-Pillar, so racing seats wouldn't make a difference.
The head airbags are in the A and C pillars, and the roofline. The side airbags are located in the seats. So you will lose those if you swap seats. Personally, I wouldn't do it.

wow, my cousin got into a very similar accient with a Murano and him in his xA. B/c of that accident I waited for S/C airbags. Good to know youre well.
The tC received 5 stars on side impact. The doors are heavy and I guess thats a good thing in this case.

Glad you're okay, that could've come out much much worse. God bless the tC designers.

VeeDubbers think they have a monopoly on cars that can take a crash very well. I've seen a lot of posts about tCs coming out very well in accidents. I think Toyota should start publicizing this fact too. Kinda goes well with the thought that this is a car that young drivers like, and you know what statistics say about younger drivers. I do wish that we see less tCs involved with accidents Just last weekend I saw a big accident on the freeway with a tC lying on it's side in the middle of the freeway Looks bad overall, but thetC looks to be still pretty much in one piece.

WRONG... they're in the seats as well. Please don't give out incorrect information. I have the side curtain airbags - they're in the headliner and partially in the A & C Pillars, as well as the side bolsters on the driver's and passenger's seats.

People often go cheap on the options. I remember a guy saying that $650 for side airbags were expensive.

Imagine if you get in a wreck and glass flies all over your face... how much would reconstruction surgery cost?

I'm glad my tC has the airbags. I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm very glad and thankful you're ok.

I wish there were more tC's with the bolsters/side airbags in the first place. The reason I wasn't able to get side airbags (held out for a while looking for them) is because it was nearly impossible to get a FM 5spd tC with side airbags. I'd have to special order it from Japan, and unfortunately I couldn't wait that long (not just that I didn't want to, but actually couldn't for several reasons...).

Now I'm not sure if that's because everyone buys them, or because Toyota thinks people won't really buy them.

Well, at least all tC's have those side impact beams.

^^^You couldn't get them on your car? My local Scion dealer can install them if you wish.

I know it's crazy, but nearly every head injury can be avoided if people used these in their cars everyday

it may look goofy, but you won't be a veggie after a crash.

Happened to my buddy once form some drunk pile of crap who ran a red light and annialated my friends 200sx... He tried to flee the scene but when I saw him and I got out of the car... Let's say I almost got arrested for assault and battery.

Bastard deserved every swing and more.

By the way... Did the guy who hit you stop?
Poor tC ='[
My condolences.

Wow, I am so sorry for your accident, but very happy to hear that everyone walked away.

I too have the side bags and almost didn't get them, now from what I see in your pics I am certainly happy that I did.

Best wishes to you, hope you are feeling okay.
