Was my Scion Security removed by the dealer?
This is a little bit complicated, so bear with me...
So I was just giving my tC a thorough interior cleaning, and that included emptying and cleaning the glove-box. When I first got the tC, I had put all of the non-essential documents and things in the glove-box and basically forgotten about them for the last 9 months. Today, I found my tC's window sticker sitting in the bottom of the glove-box. There is just one problem though: I already have the window sticker in an envelope in my house, along with the pink slip. I had always known that my tC's window sticker was in my house, so what was this mysterious window sticker in the glove-box?
At first I was thinking "no biggie, maybe it had two stickers, one for each side". I spotted something mysterious, however, on the second sticker. The one which I found in the bottom of my glove-box has "Scion Security" listed under optional features, and a higher total cost than what I paid for the car. The other sticker which I have has no listing for Scion Security, and a lower price, which is the actual price that I paid. I checked and both window stickers have the same VIN number listed.
In hindsight, I'm pretty sure I never placed that window sticker into the glove-box, because the window sticker is something I wanted to keep in a safe place. I can only think that Toyota must have placed it there or left it there by accident. Scion Security was never supposed to be part of my package, but to see a window sticker with my VIN number listed and Scion Security listed as an option got me thinking...
Maybe I do have the system installed, or at least the remnants of it? Maybe it was just deactivated? When I was waiting to make the deal, my tC was being trucked over from another dealership. By the time I had finished all the paperwork on that day, I was waiting outside and I actually saw my tC arrive on the flatbed. They only spent about half an hour unloading an prepping it before I drove it home, because I was eager to get going. Most of the prep just involved them removing plastic and tape and washing the exterior. This was definitely not enough time for them to remove a feature such as Scion Security, if it was originally installed on the vehicle and included on the window sticker.
So basically, eh, how would I know if any parts of the Scion Security system remain installed? Is there something I could look for? Obviously if I do have the system, it's not currently active, but I was thinking it must be pretty easy to activate it if they just left the parts installed...

well my car has it and there is a little black piece with a blinking blue led when activated that is attached right next to the pull latch to open the hood. but i belive that was new to the 07 model year as i was told something like that by the sales ladie and i watched her install it. but hopefully someone more knowledgable can chime in but thats what i have so when i lock my car via the key lock button i have the blue light flashing and the red light flashing right below the a/c controls.
No blue light here, just the red light for the engine immobilizer which all tCs have. I guess that part was removed. Do you know if there is a box somewhere under the hood like most aftermarket alarms have?
All tCs from dealerships come with it on there but if you dont pay for the alarm then they have someone remove it . if you have the $600 to pay for the alarm then it gets left on and off you go .

yeah at the dealer where i'm at we put in alarms in every car but when they do a dealer trade we remove it and highvoltage1, the lady didn't install it cause what we do is preinstall everything and leave them in dealer mode but when you choose to buy it they go and activate it with a chip, if you choose not to activate it then we remove everything, but usually we leave the harness in it cause the customers aren't gonna be waiting all day or night but all we do is remove is the pod(LED), brain, shock sensor.

Scion Security has it's own place in the switch panel with a blinking RED led.. and the actual wording "SCION SECURITY" printed on it.
reference:

far left switch panel spot.
the security system is primarily plug and play with the exception of a few plug/pin manipulations.. it is odd that they printed out a whole new window sticker... don't think i've ever seen that before.
but regardless... i doubt they left anything in your car

seeing as how i've helped to install many of them on customer's cars that want them... you are undeniably wrong. they only come with it if the dealership explicitly orders the car with it... at which point they install it at port.
^^^ i got a different alarm, KARR is the model that i got and this was before i started working at the dealer doing alarms and i got my LED drilled into one of the slots, not that SCION SECURITY thing which i thought it was suppose to be at first. it all depends on what dealer you go to and what company they have to install it for them. as to what they left in the car is the harness cause we don't bother taking it out, we just remove the brain, shock senson, and pod(LED light).

Scion security is a dealer option. The car is not pre-wired for it. It is sold as a kit for the dealer to install. If you want to look for any pieces of it left in your car then just remove your glove box. You will see two black boxes, one is the brain, and the other is the shock sensor. In your case what the dealers do is get these cars stock and then put options in them. Print a new window sticker and sell the car for more money. Since the car you bought was at another dealer and had options you did not pay for already in the car, they just removed them, and forgot the window sticker. Hope this clears things up for you.

the box still isn't a shock sensor... or shock of any kind.
the only sensor, is where the switch panel is. where the light and microphone are (the mic being the glass breakage sensor)
if there was any sort of shock sensor, then you wouldn't be able to kick a massive dent on the side of the car without setting the alarm off.

Dealer does NOT put it in. They hire an alarm company to come and put it in. Like me for example I got the scion security and they brought some guys from Bridgeport to come install it. 20 miles from city im in.
I don't think they come installed, it doesn't make sense in my opinion since they would be losing money on parts wasted if a customer doesn't want it (at least I would think so).
I know mine didn't, it had the standard switches, but they installed in a week later with the rest of my accessories.
Possibly they were going to sell it to someone else who wanted the security system and then backed out? I really couldn't say why they would have it listed that way unless that was the case.
