my tC logbook - 2nd oil change
I did the first change at 1050; now the 2nd at 4200...finally got rid of the YZZA2 filter that the service dept uses. I drive mostly on highway but the oil looked very dark after 3000 miles with that "crappy" filter
New factory filter on the left

New factory filter on the left

aren't they supposed to change the filter after every oil change? :? forgive my ignorance, my last car was my first car and it was used so i dunno if this is some "new car" way of doing things

There is no need for the first oil change to be before 3000/4000 miles. Even the Car Talk guys say that future oil changes do not need to be done until every 5000 miles. My suggestion is 3-4000 if you drive mostly in town and 4-5000 if you drive mostly highway.
