Default Mysterious Noise on New Auto 06 tC

I've had my '06 tC for a little over 3 weeks now. It's an automatic, and from the day I drove it off the lot I've noticed this sound that ONLY happens whenever I start the engine and begin to accelerate. No matter how hard or soft I hit the gas, I hear a clicking sound from under the car or maybe the engine.

I haven't brought it in yet b/c I wanted to see if anyone else experienced this and might know what it is. Doesn't happen when I just go from Park to Drive, ONLY when I start up the engine.

SIDE NOTE: I'm about 5' 6" and the drivers seatbelt cuts across my neck and the right side of my chest so bad. I think I need to get one of those cushions for it, but it annoys me that the belts aren't adjustable...anyone else experience this also?

Thanks!

About the noise. Our other car, a 2002 Camry, made the same sound. Took it in and it was the CVS Boot or something like that. Take it in.

A wild guess...

do you happen to have the stereo on? especially in AUX mode. If so this creates a clicking sound, progressing in frequency as you go faster. Its wierd and all but its happened to me. If its not this then take er to the dealer.

do you have your seat raised up as high as it can go? unless you're all legs, that should help. also, moving the seat up more would help too. but it's up to you.

I have an 05 tC and I noticed it too. I don't hear it when I start up the engine, but whenever I accelerate, even lightly, I hear a clicking sound coming from outside. I'm not exactly sure where its coming from.

why did you buy the car without sitting in it and knowing the seatbelt position? You're 5'6? I've had girls who are 5'6 in the car and they've never had a problem with the seatbelt..

about the clicking it's the fuel injectors clicking.. you almost made people think the clicking is because you have an automatic.. but since it's not moving along and clicking while you're moving.. you're hearing the engine fuel injectors.. and yes it's normal.. some cars have louder injectors than others..

I test drove it twice but it probably could be that the seat is too low and far back...which sucks b/c that's how I like it. I guess I was too excited when test driving to notice such a minor thing!

Thanks for the fuel injector suggestion though. It's a very brief sound soon after I accelerate and that would make sense since it only happens after starting the car...

you're welcome for the advice.. it could also be bad gas causing a "pinging" noise (sort of like a marble in a tin can), that is called spark knock and that can happen if the octane is too low (or cheap gas).. if it's clicking at idle the same way it does when you accelerate from idle, then it's the injectors..

but let's say you're already moving and you give the car more gas and it does that noise again.. change brands of gas and see if it goes away.. either way it is a simple thing to fix..
