how much do you ppl think ill get charged to reclear my CF hood

its starting to fade and i wanna get it done ASAP

 

try RUBBING COMPOUND you can buy dat from pepboys..i had a faded cf hood before and tried rubbing compound and it made it shiny and clean

 

i wouldnt think it would be any more than 75$......usually the expenxsive part is matching the paint color and ordering the paint, but since its clear coat, they should have it already and i'd think it would just be labor cost.....but you get what you pay for so do your research..

 

$75 is crazy for applying a coat of clear coat. it takes 30 seconds. unfortunately that is probably around what it will cost unless you know someone in the auto body business.

 

yeah, i was definately over-estimating,....but yeah, if you cant see chipped pieces of clearcoat and its just faded, then definately try some rubbing compound first.

 

chill my hood is still shiny, i can see myself in it, i just feel the clear coat getting thinner


im gonna take it for an estimate 2mmorrow

 

how long did it take for your hood to start wearing out?

 

rubbing compound will only make fine scratches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont use rubbing compound if u have nice finish!!!

rubbing compound will not help the fading.. what u could try is clear compound + buff!!!

 

like a full year of being in the sun all day everyday, i dont have the luxury of having a garage at home or work

i just recently bought the fitted tc car cover.

ITS NOT WORN OUT YET THOUGH.... it just started showing signs of fading

 

did you ever used wax?? if i get my cf hood i will wash it and wax it every 2 week...

 

on my previous cars I paid $100 to have my cf hoods clear coated.

although the supplies cost is low, applying clear coat is much harder than paint because it can run real easy.
