Default New Owner

Hey Everyone, New TC owner here. I picked up a 06 SE2.0 in Blitz Blue. I love the car and have already started making a nice list of mods that im going to start with and to sweeten the pot, Im a salesman for Toyota in jax fl. So i get nice discounts on TRD parts.

Here are a few pics of the car. I havnt done a whole lot. Mainly changed the stereo and added a b&m short shifter. S/C is next w/ a full megan exhaust system and some how a custom CAI to go w/ the S/C. I have been reading alot of the threads so hopefully the information here is worth my while. Sorry its a little dirty, its love bug seaon here so even though it was detailed yesterday its already gotten bugs all over it.

Congrats brotha!

So you disconnected your stock sub?

The stock sub sounds ok to me, I actually haven't turned it up loud enough to distort. I mainly listen to alternative so "bass" isn't really a big thing for me.

One thing I don't like about the tC stereo, the "mid bass" sucks. My Corolla had better mid bass with the stock stereo. I guess the 6X9s along with the trunk as the enclosure helped a bit.

Btw, does the stock radio have rca audio outs to connect to an external amp or did you need a hi to lo gain converter?

I actaully put in a JVC Headunit, however... im kinda kicking myself because i basically made the IPOD connection as well as the Sat. Radio inoperable... but.. i dont have an Ipod nor do I really wish to pay for Sat. Radio right now so i guess its not a total loss. Im going to be changing some things around tho down the road so i can gain more control over the whole thing. Most likely will be adding a Pioneer HU w/ a Pioneer 15 band EQ. a 2nd amp for mids and highs as well as a 3-way crossover. But for now, what i have is sufficent.

And to answer the question about turbo im thinking about that as well. Probally the Turbonetics kit. Only thing is that im iffy about the fuel mapping w/ the emanage. Im not to familiar enough w/ the toyo ECUs like i was w/ nissans to feel comfortable w/ the results. But hopefully my confidence can be placed in them w/in the near future.

You get 3 months FREE. You don't even need to give a credit card number.

Just call the 800 number, give your radio ID and they'll activate it in about 5 minutes.

XM is pretty cool. It's about $12/month if you decide to keep it. I have about 6 weeks to go before mine expire and I still can't decide.

I'd keep it for sure if there were no commercials, but there still are, tho not as bad as public radio.

I noticed you don't have any plates in the front and your bumpers aren't drilled in.

When I bought mine, they already drilled in and attached the frame:

I wish they didn't drilled mine. I hate the frickin socialist bastards that run my state.

Oh i know i have the 3 months free and actually i used to have XM so i just updated the info to the new radio. BUT i didnt pay for it when the month changed over so it lapsed and i have just been to lazy to get it restored.

yea no holes on the front.. they asked me if they wanted it on there and i said no... doesnt really appeal to me.

Mine didn't have the holes drilled either. I'm glad they didn't. I hate front plates on cars.
