That’s cool. So how long ago was that picture taken?
I remember hearing about this Google feature from a co-worker, roughly 6-9 months ago. He talked to a guy driving one of those vans and taking pictures. The guy told him what they were doing, and that it will probably take quite a while for certain areas to be available depending on priority. So unless you live in a major city (mostly the downtown areas), by the time your neighborhood is included, the pics will probably be several years old.
For those who live in a small town, try a Google Map search (satellite view) of your area and try to guess how old the picture is. I just searched for my old address in Fargo, ND, and the picture was about 7 years old. It was kinda cool seeing the foundation being poured at my old apartment complex.
I’m thinking now would be a good time to invest in some Google stock. I’m guessing that they’ll be adding some decent advertising revenue from businesses wanting an updated pic of their establishment….
