NEWS: Scion tC featured in "Sport Compact Car" Mag
In the July 2005 * Volume 17. no 7
In there "Battle of the project cars" they put a bunch of cars together including the tC. Below is little snip. As much as I love the tC. I get a little irritated at these reviewers who call it bland looking. This reviewer actually makes a comparison to the very TINY Paseo. A car that I can not even drive because I am 6'2" tall. I think about 5'10" is bax for that car.
Quote: "The stock Scion tC is one of those cars that has me vexed. When I drove one I ether think it's a solid and engaging successor to Toyoya's Celica, or a gussies up rerun of the unlovable Paseo. The goal for Project tC has to minimize its grim Paseoness and maximize the potential for beyont-Celica performance. So far, Project tC is heading in the right direction."
And he goes on about his over all positive impression of the car and the stuff thay are doing with this project. Toward the end of the article it looks like they have done some laptimes and it was right in the middle of a lot of other cars. I have only read the tC page thus far.
Anyway, I am a bit new here still and I still do nto have a Scion of my own, but I thought you folks would want to know about this. I have never red "Sport Compact Car" but I like it.

i think it's funny that this guy actually thinks this is a paseo.. or like it.. guess he doesn't remember too clearly the paseo was basically like the echo with a little more horsepower.. i could see comparing the xA to the paseo (sorry xA owners) but not to the tC..
i know the tC has great potential for upgrades, but it was designed for that from the beginning..

Heh, you could have used a SW tC and it still totally looks like a different car. It is down right frustrating how critical the reviewrs are of the exterior of this dang sexy tC! It has lines and curves I would want to date! Not that I am into that. LOL
Well I DO agree that it is more like a Celica than anything else, with a bigger (displacement) engine. My roommate had a 2000 Celica with the 180bhp 1.8 engine. Very peaky. But the 2.4 i the tC just seems alot smoother. And as much as I like the interior of the Celica, the tC feels like it has a lot more room. Especially foot room. Both cars feel like they have he same amount of head room in the back. I think Scion did a good job of addressing this with the reclining seats. I tell my friends about those and they are like "How the heck does that work?" Hehe.
comparing it to a paseo seems very strange to me. i find it to be a complement, however, that someone has to make such a stretch to make a comparison because there is nothing else like it to compare it to!
Car and Driver also mentioned the Paseo-ish styling of the tC. In terms of styling it's not that crazy of a comparison...if the Corolla and Celica can change from '92 to '05 like they have..then i can see how the Paseo could've evolved into the tC.

excellent point in retrospect.
they both have 2 doors and 4 wheels and some seats.
Looks like an accord ( 2 door), Sentra (2 door) and any Ferrari.
I really dont see why im typing all this. im bored

This freaks me out guys because the car I drove for 13 years before getting my BSP tC was ... A PASEO. Yes it was small, but it was a great car; put 168000 miles on it with no problems. Still had the original clutch. That car is one of the reasons I went with the tC... TOYOTA RELIABILITY.
