Default Newsweek Article: Scion tC the No. 1 Car on Campus

That automotive devotion is driving car companies back to campus. The easiest way to connect is to have your car show up in a music video, as Chrysler's 300C did in 50 Cent's "Poppin' Them Thangs." "When 50 Cent digs your product," says Chrysler marketing executive B. J. Birtwell, "it gives you street cred." But for automakers that aren't that lucky, the buzz is built through "viral marketing." Toyota's Scion car line shows up at clubs near campus with DJs spinning out of the back of a converted Scion xB. Scion's $16,000 tC is No. 1 on campus.

Here's the entire article- pretty cool. It's not entirely focused on the tC or anything, but definitely makes an honorable mention.
The car is obviously very popular. (I see one every couple of miles now around this area). http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8939243/site/newsweek/

I see them on my campus all the time. The most popular is actually the new RS tC and there are like 5 of them on campus.

UC Irvine I have heard has many. San Jose State has its select few here and there. I have seen like 5 or 6 total, and somehow 4 including me have to Be the color of FM which I hate! W/e, its a good car!

I haven't seen too many on the Case Western Reserve campus in the past year. Maybe this fall I'll see some more. Come early November, I'll be adding an Azure Pearl tC to the campus.

Its amazing how popular these cars are, yet in western mass, I havent see one in the past week. When i do, I maybe see one or two a week, and I have to travel about 12 miles to work, half on the highway and half through residential/business streets.

yeah it really depends on the area.. when I go to visit my mom who lives outside of Buffalo, NY (WNY area) I hardly ever see one. most people drive domestic cars there. I think generally the more rural and less financially well-off an area is, the less likely you are to see a car like the Scion.

Because they're so expensive?

Kidding....I sort of see what you mean. I think it also goes along with being "trendy." You certainly won't see one in an area where goats and Nascar are all the talk. Excuse my stereotypes, please.

No.. lol.. obviously not. Guess I worded that wrong. Because in more rural areas or areas that don't have as much money, people are more likely to buy um.. different cars, I don't want to say necessarily more practical. But the strong loyalty to domestics is very apparent. Just what I've encountered in my travels.

What you described is the opposite of the area I live/work in. The houses near my work easily go for $500,000 +.

I think I just happen to live in an area that hasnt got a lot of scion exposure yet.
