so if i put my car in park and stick my head near the passenger side front wheel, i can hear this weird popping sound. Its not constant. kind of just on and off. i heard this could be just a noisy power steering pump and supposidly this is a common issue with scions. anybody else experience this?

 

well, when you are turning the wheels while parked, you are making the power steering work hard to turn the wheels, so yeah, you would probably hear it come on. but a popping sound? could just be your car grinding some gravel caught int he tire tread against the pavement.

 

no i dont need to turn the wheel or anything, it just happens, ill record a video after work and post a link, maybe that will help more.

 

Is your AC on? Which side is the AC compressor on i forget.

 

i also get a irratic popping sound from my engine. it started at about 8-9k miles, its annoying, happys mostly in park but i can also hear it in drive when stopped.

is your car lowered if so it may be your shocks...how do i know???because it is happening to me... I turn the wheel and a popping sound happens...my .02
