it was -20 degrees thursday night in the chicago area. I went to start my car to let her warm up and pressed unlock once. it did what it normally does and flashed twice. i then pressed unlock a 2nd time and it did a half flash. i was like wtf? so i locked it and tried again, and again, and again: each time it did 2.5 flashes?

anyone know what this means?

 

Your car is angry you are taking her out in tothe cold......... .......nah I have no idea...flasher is probably jsut cold and not closing the relay properly....try it when it is warm.

 

Might be a cold battery issue.

 

okay not to be a poop.. but do you operate properly when your body is -20 degrees? nope, neither does your car.

Not to say it's acceptable, but wait til it gets to a SANE TEMPERATURE to see if works normally.

 

it is the relay for the blinker/flasher not closing properly.when it is that cold the dielectric grease in it to lube it is so cold the switch is not moving properly.that relay is most likely under the dash,so drive a around and let car get warm in side and such and then lock and unlock and see if that solves it.

 

i had the same problem last night and my car didnt wanna lock either

 

I am so glad it doesn't get that cold here.......sounds miserable.

that was my guess. after i got home everything worked fine. it did it again last night even though it wasnt quite as cold. oh well. thx guys

 

at least there's one good thing about when it's in the negative teens...
