Off to the races...
Well, I'm going to the drag strip on wednesday. It's my first time out there, and I was hoping maybe someone on here has some experience, and could maybe give me a few tips like tire pressure, Shift rpm's etc etc. If anyone can offer any advice, I'd appreciate it.
everyone is gonna be diff but i find launching around 2000-2500rpm to have pretty good results. ive never bothered changing the tire pressure so i cant help ya there and you will probably be shifting into 4th right before u cross the 1/4mi mark grrrr haha
Ok heres the most basic of basic things to remember when lining up.
#1. When you see that first double yellow light come on, CRAWL until you see that 2nd yellow light come on and STOP immdiatly. What this is called is "shallow staging" it allows you to start off a lil earlier and get a better reaction time
Now after both cars get both double lights on, there lined up.
#2. The tree goes on in stages. You have 3 yellow lights and a green light. Now there are stages of the yellow lights. 3 to be exact. Coming on, On, and Going off. When the 3rd yellow light is in the Going Off stage, GO!! It takes alot of practice to get that down. But when you do, your reaction times will be that much better.
After that, just dont miss a gear and pick up your slip at the shack. As for the best way to go, thats just trial and error, the good thing about the track is, you get timeslips, so you can figure out whats working and whats not for your car
