Default Oh No Problems with my TC

So, I have been driving manual transmission cars since I started driving 8 years ago. I bought a new TC in December (my first new car) and I need the group to help me understand if this is me or the car.

When the car is cold and I let my foot of the gas pedal to slow down, the car feels like it is trying to downshift (like an automatic) . When the car warms up, it is much less pronounced but it feels like the car wants to buck. I took it to the dealer and they understand but tell me that they can't feel it. I test drove another TC and it was fine. The dealer says that he can't fix what they don't feel. They told me there was nothing they could find and even checked with the computer. No problems.

My second issue is the car just doesn't want to shift into reverse. It wants to grind. The dealer told me to put it into first gear, let out the clutch, then put it into reverse. Keep doing this until it slides in.

I have had an old Honda Accord and a newer Mitsu Mirage. Neither car acted this way. I am soooooooooo sad.

Can anyone help? I think they just think that I am a girl who doesn't know how to drive.

try double clutching for the reverse problem. i heard that works. as far as the car wanting to buck, mine does that too but only when it's cold, when it warms up it's just fine. maybe it has to do with how it runs rich untill it warms up

does he mean put it in Neutral and let the clutch out? Letting it out at neutral means to double clutch. Plus letting go in first to go into reverse doesnt make sense

From experience with previous vehicles, ive found that this bucking problem comes a lot from egr valves not being completeley open or clogged. That being said i dont think they would be clogged, (is there even an egr valve on the tC?).

Just an idea though

maybe on a 15 year old car that has carbon build up. But this car is new.

To solve the reverse problem put the transmission into first really quickly, then it syncs up to the gear ratio of reverse more easily... this is true with nearly every single manual in existence.

Pop it in first but dont bother letting out the clutch, the synchros have already done their job, then into reverse and you're off with no resistance.

^^^^this guys got the ticket., the whole (first-then-reverse) thing is for safety. its so u dont accidentally go into reverse. the syncros are pre-designed that way.

My car will "buck" when it's cold - it's normal. When it warms up it's fine.

To get it into reverse just press the clutch twice and then move it into gear...that's what the manual says...and it works fine.

yeah, my car bucks when it;s cold. when i'm going down this slight hill in my nieghborhood in 3rd gear it does it. it does is especially bad when i'm going around a culdesac in second when the engine is cold. i have to push the clutch in sometimes, otherwise it really bucks.

What's riding the clutch? Is it setting the clutch to the throttle point and just having the car creep? If it is, why's it such a bad to do?

That is called the friction point ( I think). Riding the clutch is when you have your resting feet on the clutch while driving. This will cause the clutch to wear out unnessecarily.

When the car's cold the computer tells the car to idle at a higher RPM in order to warm up. So basically when you let off the gas to slow down, the computer is still giving the engine gas in order to keep it at it's "warm up" RPM. That explains the car's tendancy to buck or roll forward faster than usual.

Where did you buy your tC from; Ganley or Don Joseph?
