Default Oh NOES my battery light is on!

I installed my headers the other day, unplugged my battery and plugged it back in and my battery light came on in the car. I changed out the battery with another from my friends tC and the light was still on. If you pull off the terminals while the car is still running it stays running fine. I had the battery and alternator tested this morning and they both checked out fine. We also unplugged and replugged in the alternator. Is there anything anyone else can think of? I have the negative terminal unplugged rite now and i plan to leave it like that over night. Any ideas of anything else anyone can think of if that doesnt work?

That's odd.

What did your charging voltage measure at?

Puzzling.....

I'd check all of your fuses. Automotive circuitry acts funny sometimes when a particular fuse blows. Sorry I have no answer at the moment.

So I plugged in the negative terminal this morning and nothing still. The light is remaining on. Are there any specific relays or fuses anyone can think of that I should check?

Loose or bad ground at the battery? usually the battery will not act correctly with a loose ground but showing 13 volts doesn't sound like that, also the charging circuit may be at fault. but doubt it.
One last thing could be far fetched but what is happening is the light is grounding out a staying on when nothing is really wrong.

It was just a header change so there weren't any wires involved unless you hit something by accident. if possible replace the alternator with possibly your friends and go from there. electricity does weird things. The battery can show 13 volts if charged from use before this happened,
you only need it to start the car the rest runs off the alt that's why the car continues to run without the battery plugged in. no draw no drain still shows fully charged, but if the alternator isn't charging it then you would get the light.

I may have the answer to your problem if you haven't fixed it yet. The Batt. light on the gauge cluster has its own circuit coming from the Alt. It's partly the reason why your Batt. light is ON while your battery and charging system checks out fine. The circuit consists of a 10A fuse, Batt. light in gauge cluster, and connectors to the alternator. I'd check the "10A MET IG2" fuse first. That's in the fuse block located under the drivers side dash. If that fuse is OK, unplug the 3 wire connector at the alternator. Inspect that connector for bent or loose terminal pins. If nothing is bent or loose, check for a frayed wire insulation. The wire for that Batt. light input should be a PINK wire from that 3 wire alt. connector.

The other reason for the Batt. light ON is a malfunctioned alternator, which I doubt because of your normal 13.77 charging voltage. You may have open circuited that PINK wire when installing your headers.

Also, there are more than that one fuse I just mentioned for the charging system, but I believe those other fuses will be fine considering your charging output numbers.

Also check for loose battery clamp terminals just as 1NICESCION has stated.
