Oil drain plug question
Oil has somehow decided to leak VERYYYY slowly around my drain plug now this all started after i let the yota dealer change the oil so im wondering if the drain plug has a seal that usually goes with it? I changed the oil myself just recently hoping it would go away when i screwed the plug in but no its somehow wanting to leak around it only thing i can think of is the stealership put in a wrong plug or theres a seal that was left out... Kinda feel dumb asking this question but o well im new to these tc's

it's just common courtesy for the parts dept to put in a new washer in the box for you when you buy it.
will they always? no.. but you should ask anyway whenever you do go buy them.. those things are so cheap they usually don't care.

and fyi- IMO, the washer is a little difficult to see. a lot of times it gets stuck to either the bolt or the pan, and i miss it entirely. sometimes i even have to take a flathead screwdriver (or blade even) to separate it from the head of the bolt.
lol. I had to buy both filter and gasket from dealerships (Longo and Wondries) whenever I do a DIY oil change on my car. $1.37 + tax for the gasket alone lol! (cough) stealership. So I'll just order bulk oem filters+gaskets from Sparks next time. Waaay cheaper.
Anyway OP, just change oil by yourself next time. Always make sure to replace the gasket everytime and don't overtighten the plug or else you'll leak (gasket or no gasket).
Which reminds me, I hope the guy who did your last oil change didn't overtighten the drain plug bec. they tend to overtighten the filters too.

if youre "cheap" you can spend a bit more and get one of those copper washers that supposedly last forever and work in the same way.
i say buy the gaskets and the filters from the same place and talk to the guy and see if you can get the gaskets for free or super cheap. i think i spent $2 for 10 gaskets when i bought my filters
