Default One thing I noticed .....

I got my Black Sand Pearl tC back in August, I waited 3 months for
it to come from Japan.

Well worth the wait, dont get me wrong. I see people having problems with the tC
that I am having but, one thing I have noticed is that....

Why is there no Shift Light, or Shift Indicator on the tC?

I dunno it just strikes me as odd lol.

Anyone else care to reply and give me your two cents?

What does a Shift Light do? Do cars really have that?

My 88 Ford Festiva had a shift light, it is odd that the tC doesn't have one. I don't have my tC yet so I have not noticed the lack of a shift light...

not many cars come with shift lights... very few that i know of do.... i know the 350z comes with one...(i used to sell them.. hehe...), but i don't think its the kind of thing like power windows or something that we find as standard equipment.

But if u really want something... well i know that trd has a shift light available as an accessory. But if all you want is a shift light... there are some better ones out there...

Shift light, it tells you when to shift into a higher gear.

Yes, cars really have that, and I think all cars should lol.

Thanks for you 2 cents sweetmaryland89!

There are two basic types - actually they are the same, but they are calibrated differently: 1) performance - lights up at the optimal shift point for maximum accelleraton. 2) economy - lights up at the optimal point for best fuel economy.

My '96 Ford Escort had a shift light, original equipment. I'll let you guess which kind.

If the shift light was for an Escort...then it was DEFINITELY for performance!

Who the hell would need a shift light? Especially if it came as a standard thing on the car... If you don't have a tach and you are learning to drive stick - then maybe... But not on the tC - come on...

truu...idk ..every car i've driven i haven't felt the need for use of a shift lift...the only place where i would think it would even come in handy is during racing when u can't keep ur eyes on ur gauges so it just simply lights up at the corner of ur eye telling u to shift...so many sizes too...from little red lights to big blue mag-lite sized lights lol

My brother's GMC truck has one too. I think it's intended for people who don't have a tach. But honestly, why do you need a shift light? If anything, something aftermarket for your A pillar looks better anyway.

Actually, to my knowledge most aftermarket shift lights are adjustable and can be set to whatever setting by the user.

well no you dont NEED one, IMO i think it would be cool. just b/c you dont need it does not mean you should not have it. It does not have to be anything big maybe just a led on the guages or something.

people dont need underbody lights but some people still have them too. its not really for functional purposes.

Good point - I meant the two types in reference to OEM shift lights...
