Default One - Touch Auto Sunroof

Is there any way to make the sunroof open all the way and close all the way with one touch of the button? i never use the other settings and i HATE when i hit it once and then it goes back a bit, then again for the whole way. same thing on the way back.

can you program it?

thanks.

i 2nd this proposal.

keep the first push of the button to open slightly...
but a second push to open it ALL the way.
and vice-versa.

does that all make sense?

I believe the segmented opening and closing are for safety reasons. Better a small inconvience than a crushed human part.

I doubt it's for safety reasons. I have an aftermarket sunroof and it works by one touch. Pretty much all power operated devices (ie. sunroofs, windows) have safeties built in to prevent someone from getting hurt by them. The TCs works that way because someone designed it to do that. Read your owner's manual to see if you can change it.

I read in my manual that Scion advises you to not have it open all the way for highway driving because it produces a "wind throb" (or something like that) and they would rather you use the almost open setting.

thats probably why its like that. I dont mind it though

i really think it's stupid that i have to press it once to pop it up. then hold it for like 2 seconds to go back...but even then, it doesn't go back all the way. then i have to press it once more to go back the extra inch.

to close...i have to hold it for about 2 seconds, it closes to about halfway. then i have to press and hold the button again for it to fully close.

did they let a retard do the programming on this? it really makes no logical sense

And I'm sure this will offend someone (lighten up a little) but this was the next image over on my google search and it's too funny to pass up.

It's an album cover for "SloMo the Rappin Retard"

Well the wind throb thing I understand. Open the sunroof all the way (yes, that's one press for tilt, one press for most of the way, and a third press for all the way) and then drive on the freeway. The gaping hole with nothing to vent it in the back makes this sort of very unpleasant vacuum and it's nice to know where to stop to keep that from happening. It's unfortunate that the sunroof doesn't have three buttons so you can't just press the one you want for the position you want. My real question is, why isn't there a good way to make it close all the way in one motion? I think that there is something to be said for people wanting to open it to any one of the three positions, but once it's opened, most people want to close it all the way. When I park i'm always sitting there holding the close button forever. Oh well, I'll put up with it.

The reason is stops before is closes is to give all those with an arm out the window time to move it. I think it's kind've annoying too (my old Civic didn't have it) but it's a standard feature on all Toyota's.

Like some said before, the first stop on the way open is to pop it and the second stop is to prevent wind throb.

Yeah, it does take a while to close the sunroof. I was once opening the my sunroof and, someone thought I was giving them 'the finger', a bit embarrassing.

Wow, that's kind of awkward.

I recently discovered that you don't have to hold the open button down while it goes back the longest distance (the second stage).

press and hold for a sec or two in my mom's camry opens and closes the sunroof all the way. the only one that you can't do that for is the tilt, but u're only holding it for an extra second anyway.. so it's not standard on all toyota's..

I don't see why the closing is a safety feature, it already has the "ohhh i hit something, I should open rather than close" feature.

I would love if someone could work out how to close it with a single press, it would be even awesome'r if someone could work out how to wire an extra switch into the drivers door next to the windows, it would save so much 'effort' if I could just click three buttons when I park, and all three windows would close automatically.

Hmmm. What year is your mom's Camry? Does it have pinch protection?

get someone else in your car and have them open it to each spot, youll notice the tilt is completely different, when doing 110 on a expressway with it all the way open, the ____ looks like its gonna snap off completely, with it just opened back to the first stop, it doesnt move at all, the wind doesnt have the potential to rip off your 400+ dollar sun roof? lol
