Like some said before, the first stop on the way open is to pop it and the second stop is to prevent wind throb.

My Celica GTS sunroof closed all the way with a single touch.

I guess I was wrong about that. Maybe the tC doesn't have pinch protection while those other cars did?

The tC does have pinch protection. I do sometimes get annoyed with pressing the button so many times to open and close the roof, but it's still faster than the sunroof on my T-Bird.
