Default Oops... I dropped a bolt

I dropped a bolt inside the hatch lid. It fell in the gap between the outer body panel and the inner metal panel, so it's now stuck in the cavity to the left of the license plate. It moves around a lot and rattles. I'm looking for ideas on how to get it out, because I'm not very creative. A magnet on a string, perhaps? Although the whole area is made of metal, so I dunno.

You can get one of those poles that has a magnet on the end...my dad has one and I think you can get it at any auto place that sells tools. It looks like a screwdriver but the end telescopes out

I tried to post a pic of it but none are showing up. It's a magnet on a stick pretty much.

Tool stores carry several magnet tools. For your situation I would recomend a flexible pick up magnet. The extension is basically a long spring and allows it to bend around corners and get into tougher spots.

Oh damn, that's a cool idea with the telescopic magnet tool. People think of everything. I'm definitely getting one of those.

As for dropping anything in the bumper, just take the bumper off? Takes ten minutes.

Dude the exact same thing happened to me, but except mine was on the right (looking from inside the car out). I have tried the long extended magnet pole, and using a large magnet from a speaker to get it out but no luck. I don't hear it rattles anymore so I think it's stuck somewhere so I just said "what the hey" and put the plastic cover back on .

Hmmm. No luck with the magnet pole thing, huh? Are the bolts magnetic?

I wonder why you weren't able to find it then.

i had that happen to me...if it still rattles around, hit the trunk so it moves the bolt "up" towards the holes and feel around for it.
