I'm not sure if this has already been talked about....
Came back from the dealership after taking a look at a silver 4-speed. I would have conisdered buying it...however it was ~20K, filled with stuff I didn't even want (OBX shifter, sport pedals, spoiler, 6-cd changer).
I asked the dealer if they could remove some of those things (at least the shifter and the 6-cd changer) to lower the price a bit. And he said 'no.'
Is that right? You can't take off stuff from a Scion that's been accessorized but you can only keep adding more?
Or is it just the dealer?

The dealer could put in the time and labor to remove profitable items from the car and sell it at a lower price point... or he could just wait and sell it to some over-exuberant consumer (of which there are plenty).
Now, ask yourself why he would want to spend money removing parts to sell to you, when the tC is selling quite well?
He said "No" because from his perspective the dealer has nothing to benefit from such an action (Unless tCs were sitting stagnant on lots, which they arent). It isn't a matter of not being able to remove accessories, it's a matter of why should he.

the dealer's being smart...by equipping the first tC's with a lot of options, he's increasing his bottom line. people will give in to the hype and plunk down an extra $1k because they want to be one of the first ones to have a tC. I bought my with $600 of extra airbags just because i couldn't wait for a new shipment, my WRX lease is up july 31st. if i could have waited i wouldn't have gotten them
in reality the scion's should be shipped completely stripped down, but they are not always sent that way. you supposed to pick the options you want and by the dealer loading it with accessories it doesn't really follow the scion way of selling.
