So again, the point of the post was not to debate the merits of the Scion Security System, it was to ask if anyone else bought Scion Security and got "Automate". No one here seems interested in helping her out and answering her question.

Automate Alarm System Price Range= $30-$100 *this is what I found in google*

Go back to your dealer and get your money back. COMPLAIN COMPLAIN COMPLAIN. Don't like their service? www.labbb.org , screw them over as they screew people over. As you can tell Im pro-customer and anti-salesman.

Yeah we aren't answering her question. I estimate that about 5% of SL members properly got scion security. If you read the treads about scion security, people won't recommend it because of its cost. Well all of scion's options isn't recommended because of its cost. You should of gotten a aftermarket alarm which will save you a ton. The only other advice I can give out is to educate yourself with SL forums.

Agree, I got AutoPage for about $200. *yeah I got ripped off, I was a noob back then * ...but I get a pager . Regulary Alarm will cost around $50 if you look deep enough, and sounds like the scion security puts in those type.

Go back to the dealership and take a guy with you. They tried to pull a fast on you because you're a woman.

Some of us bought the Scion Security. Is it the best? No. Is it expensive? Yes. Was it a convience to buy the alarm when purchasing the tC? Yes. I have no complaints about my Scion Security. Once I 'PASSIVELY ARM'ed my tC, it goes off regularly. In fact; when I go to my dealership to get the free oil changes, they get ____ed because my tC is always going off!

It doesn't help that I swapped out my stock horn for the Hella Twin Supertone Horn!

I did some phone research first and determined I had an aftermarket alarm that they install for $369. I had paid $469 so the dealership is cutting me a check for $100. I was going to make them install the scion alarm instead but I couldn't even get anyone who was able to compare the 2 alarms for me so I could decide which one was more worthwhile. What makes me angry is how many people they get away with this with that DON'T get their $100 (or more!) back. Yeah, they made it right eventually, but I'm sure a lot of people don't notice this stuff and get screwed way worse.

I had already been told not to go near Norwood with a ten foot pole, so I didn't set foot in there. I got it at Tarbox. Besides this issue I actually thought they were pretty good.

Their attitude was good, I will give them that. They wanted to make it right and dealt with me as a very angry customer as well as could be hoped for. I just submitted my review in the dealer section. I do think its much easier to get a favorable impression of any dealer when you can skip the price haggling though! Takes the really stressful part out of buying a car.

Scion security is the same as my toyota security i had for my celcia GTS. You could jump on the car and nothing would happen, but if you took your key and tapped the windshield it would go off, pretty lame if you ask me, but most crooks would stay clear if you have an alarm period.

Take your key and tap on your winshield and see if it works, wait about 15secs. though after you have armed your car.

Directed Electronics is behind the company of Automate. (Check out Viper.com and look at the list of names at the left)

Not a generic alarm, top of the line.

But if you dont like the remote and want to call it a Viper or Clifford instead, get a viper or clifford remote and program it to the alarm.

Its better than factory secuirty anyways.

But $469 is expensive for any secuirty. Better off getting aftermarket (better range, more options, has shock sensor ect.)

I would complain to Scion. Email their people maybe from the scion web site. I would also go to the dealer and get my money back.

P.S.

http://www.directed.com/security/hornet/horn_ke.asp

This system can be bought for $80 and it has a shock sensor AND it can use your scion key. It is on my list.

The AutoMate is better than factory because you have more features that can be programmed on or off. Features like automatic arming, siren duration, confirmation chirps when arming and disarming, ignition controlled door locking, starter kill circuitry, valet control, etc.

That sux that you didn't get what you paid for. The dealer should have installed what you have requested. Especially, considering your warranty. You should of ask for more than the difference that they owed you for the inconvenience and miscommunication. Maybe ask for 3 more free oil changes to keep you coming back at their dealership.

i had the same problem. i ordered the scion security and got a checkmate alarm. i called scion corporate and had them call the dealer because i didn't want to deal with them because of problems i had with them when picking up the car. after a song and dance about how the checkmate alarm was better, the dealer offered to refund me the difference between the scion security system and the checkmate alarm, $225.
