Default Ordering a Tc this weekend... some questions

Are any of the "Toyoguard" groups worth the $600?

Did anyone pay the dealer fees or talk them down on them?

How come the body kit is no longer available on the Scion website?

What is the “driver and front passenger seat bolster” option?

Thanx,

Craig

1) God, no. Those dealer etching and Scotchguard things are just overpriced crap designed to boost dealer profit.

2) Depends on the fees. There is a standard dealer fee you are going to have on any new car, and it depends on the dealer. Seems Scion's is usually $399, although one dealership I went to had theirs marked up to $499.50. Because this fee is designed into the "Pure Pricing" marketing (it is even included on Scion's official website), I doubt most dealers would budge on it. On the other hand, some dealers throw on all kinds of fees, and if they seem excessive, I would just walk away. Because you are forced to pay MSRP for Scions, I don't see any reason to pay extra fees, but whatever.

3) The Scion website sucks. The last time I went there it had nothing listed under performance options. Since the options are dealer-installed, you might want to check with the dealer you are buying from to be sure they can install the kit.

4) The "seat bolster" is the side airbag package.

Umm...my dealership didn't charge me anything extra. Period. I paid the MSRP. If they don't want to give it to you for MSRP, don't buy it, because some place else will.

Also, don't go for any extended warranties or anything like that: this is a Toyota, it is not going to break down, and the kind of person that would be on a site like this is not going to have the car long enough to justify the added cost. We all know that the next tC or whatever that comes out we will all want it.

I would highly recommend getting the iPod deck unit though, it is not perfect, but it make me love my car so much more than I thought it would it is worth $1000, not just $260 haha. If you add it later it costs like $600 anyway, because you don't get the credit for the removal of your old head unit, because they just scrap that.

Um, no comment on the ToyoGuard.

Part of the difference is, you must be living in an area where South East Toyota distributes cars. Their Build Your Own site is run by them, not Toyota/Scion, and includes stuff that is only available in their area(like ToyoGuard). Why they don't offer the performance items, I don't know, but if you put in a zip code outside that area, you will see them.

As for the fees, they seem to vary widely in different areas of the country. My dealership charges a Documentation Fee of $79. Any fee like this is not negotiable, because it still falls under the Scion Pure Pricing rules. It must be listed on the dealer's pricing menu, and everyone has to pay it.

So it's only in the Southeast, then? That's nice. I noticed the "Delivery/ Destination" charge varies, too. It's 515 in most places (and the main Scion website lists it as 515), but apparently in Florida it is 585. Does it cost more to ship a car here? "Pure Pricing" seems somewhat misleading in that case.

"Actual dealer prices may vary."

It doesn't cost more to ship the car, its just that that regional distributor decided to charge more to cover their costs. Technically, that charge doesn't fall under the Pure Pricing rules, because its a regional fee and appears on the window sticker.

i bought my tc from Toyota of Wilmington here in NC...
and due to the dealerships own stupidity of how they handled my sale... i got the toyota car care and maintenance care for FREEE! each one was about $400- 600 so in essence i got over $1000 of stuff free.. along with some FREE 2 piece all weather scion floor mats which are pretty damn neat!.

the car care protects the outside and inside upholstrey.
the car maintenance.. protects me... basically.. covering all regular and scheduled maintenance for the first 3 yrs or 45k miles.
so basically any regular oil changes... tire rotations, 7500k15k

toyota actually sells these programs.. thru Hendericks Autogroup... and u get a card in the mail.. that u show whenever u bring the car in.

about the ground fx... just go into toyota/scion and tell them u want it.

in my opinion... do not get the TC special edition... because i heard thats something only the southeast toyota's did.. with some corny ___ tc special edition in your head rests.. and it looks baddd... real badddd.

i opted for
ground fx,
blue led cathode interior lights...
leather seats...
leather steering wheel with silver accents
obx classic leather shift know with mesh accent
rear pedastal sport wing
scion custom sport grille...2 piece.. for top and bottom front areas.
