Our keyless entry is water resistant..
I went to the beach yesterday, and jumped in the water. Quickly jumped out "____ ____ my phone" which was in my pocket, because I was worried about other things.. namely girls. Anyway, I jump out, my phone is dieing a slow and painful death (crackling and vibrating off an on, very amusing) and I was thinking my keyless entry may just have died too, which I was really concerned about because they aren't cheap to replace. I wash both off with fresh water. Phone's dead forever, but I went back to the car and the keyless still works great. Maybe even a little better range.. j/k
But definately nice to know they weren't made to drown easily.
I left my keys in my pocket and they got put in the wash and I found them after about an hour of searching, still in my pocket and full of water but the keyless entry still works just fine.
once I flipped into this "swimmin hole" that's like a 30 ft deep freshwater spring and when I got back to my Mitsu Galant I realized that my keys were under 30 ft of water. After a week I was able to get a friend to dive down there for me with his goggles and he was able to find them after a little while. I can't dive that deep or hold my breath that long.
Well, I was worried because my car had the most annoying factory alarm; self-locking when the engine is running, self-setting if the doors are closed for a certain amount of time (ie. just long enough to come out of the store and set it off just trying to get into your own car), and the engine didn't start unless you disarmed the alarm so even though I had my keys, the fob didn't work soI was able to unlock the doors and set the alarm off and also turn the key in the ignition and set it off a few more times.
It was fun.
So I went to the Shaq (harhar/sarcasm) and just replaced the battery in the fob, it rusted pretty bad after that week underwater and guess what? It worked fine after that!
I also washed my bodyglove hands-free headset for my cell and it works fine too.
