but didn't know what the oil drain bolt is because the picture doesn't show it


um ... help?

 

can you locate the oil pan? if so its the only big bolt near the bottom.

 

what's the oil pan? that big thing that the oil filter is attach to?

 

no its a black smooth painted shape that you see in the picture with the wrench as that dirty looking thing the wrench in connected to.

 

its right next to the filter if you comming from the front of the car it would be right behind the filter.

 

still not sure, but if it's behind the filter from the front of the car

which way is it facing? is it just a regular silver bolt?

 

It's a galvanized (goldish/silverish) looking big bolt from what I can rememer as I'm in between changes its the only big one near the bottom of that pan

lol, make sure you dont mistake it for the tranny fluid pan...

you should ask for help for the first time. Then do it your self the 2nd time. Are you putting synthetic? If you are not putting synthetic then might as well pay someone to do it. It is really cheap. Dont forget to dump your old oil at a recycling tank.

average oil : $2.50 a quart = $10
Filter: $4

thats $14, I know a lot of places will replace oil and filter for $24. $10 to pay someone to lift my car up, get dirty and recylce the oil for me.. it is worthed! Synthetic oil on the other hand.. different story.

olorin, do not overtorqued the oil drain bolt! Just tighten it gently.
