What Is a Turbocharger?
Turbochargers are a type of forced induction system. They compress the air flowing into the engine (see How Car Engines Work for a description of airflow in a normal engine). The advantage of compressing the air is that it lets the engine squeeze more air into a cylinder, and0 more air means that more fuel can be added. Therefore, you get more power from each explosion in each cylinder. A turbocharged engine produces more power overall than the same engine without the charging. This can significantly improve the power-to-weight ratio for the engine (see How Horsepower Works for details).

So he said let's find out and he dials some TRD parts line, and let's me talk to some dude named eric at TRD. Eric says he just got done installing a supercharger this morning in a tC. He said that they should have an official release date of sometime in the last week of september or the first week of october. He says it has gotten complete certification now and is ready to go just a matter of finishing putting all of the kits together for shipment to the dealers. He came up with that answer of last week in September or first week of October pretty quickly as a matter of fact that is the first thing he said right after I aske him when the release date is. So hopefully this vaporware will come to fruition.
For what it's worth, the information I got from district reps is pretty much the same. My understanding is that our techs will have to go to school for installation first and then we'll be ready about the 1st week of October.
