i like the rims. lol. it actually looks cool, and im totally digging the RWD, but for that HP, that thing better be super light. haha.

and definately will not be in that price range if it hits the US. Scion is actually gaining more and more credibility as a brand, so i wont be surprised if the next gen "tC" will be an easy 18k.

not sure if its just me.... but I am a huge fan of the orginal hachi roku. but here is what gets me. saying "its a new AE86" is just odd. all AE86 means is the Chasis code. you could get the AE86 in different models and coupes. there was the hatch back , the notch back and you could get the LEVIN or the TRUENO which one has a better brake upgrades ETC ETC. and in the USA it was a corolla AE86, and then the AE111 came out in the mid 90's, then the AE113 in the late 90's-2001, then i can't remember what the current chasis number means... but anyway... i just find it odd. its not a new AE86 - its a new corolla.

but its silly to call this a NEW AE86... that makes no sense! we coudl call it a NEW version of the OLD corolla hatchback body style (much liek the new mustangs, camaros, and charges, etc.) but to call it a NEW AE86 - makes no sense, its a chasis code, not the name of a car. the chasis will probably be AE120 er sumthing.. i dunno.

I know this car is just a rumor, but if this thing is around 13k range, NOBODY should be complaining about performance and HP. If they are going to make a car based on the AE86, don't expect ultimate performance out of the box, look for a great base RWD for tuners to work their magic.

I actually kinda like it. But I wouldn't trade my tC for it, I'd just buy it in addition to.

from what i see...(excluding the ft-hs concept) toyota right now is looking for the greener side. gas economy wise. if you noticed, they discontinued the celica and it gave toyota higher overall avg mpg with several of their cars since they are advertising the whole highest mpg avg with most of their models.

They discontinued the celica right around the same time that hmm scion came out with the tC (celica's last year was 05 i believe.. the tC was in 04..[sounds like a trial year to me]) ... not to mention it's been said that the tC has been modeled based off of the Celica. I don't know why all of you are hyped up over new toyotas anyway.. this IS scion life. the FT-HS concept is sweet, don't get me wrong. Also, I'm pretty sure they'll make a newgen tC for 09.. but who knows.. the 08 tC didn't get much marketing compared to the xB and xD. Also, there's talks of the xR.. the rally inspired 4 door.. who knows what they'll come out with but I guess if rumors help you bide your time while you wait.. then by all means

If this does come stateside, I will be trading in my tC for it. Without a doubt.

The car's weight will be kept down most likely, to compesnate for the 1.5 liter engine (that's just staying true to the original AE86 philosophy). And RWD for under (hopefully) $18k? SOLD!

I'd buy it in addition to my tC ... weight, hp, price, drive platform are perfect especially if it was a high revving manual six ... the only light of day that thing would see stock if I got a hold of one would be from the dealer to my garage and up it would go and it wouldn't come out until it was track ready.

if this comes round to be anywhere near accurate it would be one of the smartest moves any auto company has made in years.

( lightweight+Rear Wheel Drive=success for toyota)
