Honestly, it would be one of the best things. It creates a 'new' market for the auto industry (ultra-affordable rear-wheel drive), and obviously a lot of the sales would be generated from sports-compact enthusiasts.
I would not buy it for under 20K looking like that. I probably wouldn't buy it anyways. I'm set with the original
I don't like the futuristic cars.
I mean if its only 13K. Where the F does allot of that money goes. You thinkk workers are going to work cheap? Are the brains behind this car only going to accept a few hundred Gs? If its 13k et least 4 K of each car maybe goes to workers and the idea and company. That leaves 9 to build the car. I wouldn't trust a 9K car.
It looks way too euro.

2 things:
1. I don't know why they don't choose the new 1.8 from the xD for that platform.
2. Toyota has a new project going around about making also the most affordable car in the world, by selling it at under 9k. That's what I saw in the news about a year ago. But I really don't remember anything else.
I would all over this car if it comes out. With a 18.3 lbs/hp ratio. Much better than the 18.1 lb/hp ratio of the tC. I just hope they keep it simple and add the option for a factory LSD. Maybe keep the drive-by-wire out of the story also.

I saw that 9k car on Top Gear a while back, and it was a fun little thing. Nothing grand, obviously, but they're smart in the construction of it. How? The hatch for instance was entirely glass and no body-panel, so that cuts some production off right there.

no i was thinking more 2JZGTE swap... 3SGTE is a great engine, but of all the swaps to do, 3SGTE seems to be the most headache for less Horsepower.
if your are gonna go through the headache, go for 2J - b/c those get huge amounst of horsepower the more you put on them. it can fit. if my friend can fit a 2J in a FD3S... then you can easily fit a 2J in the new RWD if its that size pictured.
don't get me wrong i love the 3SGTE! i want to put on in my other car, but the headche to do it is nuts, and a 2J does not fit in my tiny engine bay. =(
i'm excited to see the new RWD car - its about time toyota came out with them again...i just hoep people take soem autocross classes b4 they go crazy and kill themselves.

____ I'm 19.. it doesn't take a genius to be able to divide total weight of a car, by the horsepower, to see in relativity, how much horsepower / lbs. each car makes. I even did the math earlier for people and they're still saying they think it's slow.
It's all speculation anyway.

Drive-by-wire will probably stay. As will power steering, and the car will gain weight if Toyota exports them to the US. Safety requirements and such.
120hp in 2200 lbs is pretty good. Anymore power and you'd have kids killing themselves because of too much power and not enough driving discipline.
Imagine a low cost, light-weight RWD car that so many people want made. Now Toyota(maker of the Camry-brand mobile couch), of all car companies, is thinking about it. Good for them.
