Default possible alarm recognition failure? please help

I bought my scion tC about 3 months ago and just recently when I go to unlock the car with the keyless entry button, nothing happens. The battery in the remote works and the red light on the key lights up every time i press any button on the key. I think it might be an issue with the receiver inside of the car but i'm not sure. I haven't taken it into the dealership yet but i just wanted to know if any of you have had similar problems.

eh??

Do you randomly press buttons when your not by your car?

If it starts the car its still learned to the car and the reciever is working.

Interesting, I do have a nervous habit of pressing the alarm a bunch when im unlocking it and i do remember times when i have pressed the unlock button when not near my car. How would that mess with the alarm?

The key has a rolling code that counts everytime you push a button. This way when the transimitter sends the message its a new message, otherwise someone could use an RF listening device and just play your RKE message back to the car and unlock the doors. If your rolling code gets to high from whats stored in the car's reciever it locks out that key. Usually you can reset this by putting the key into the ignition.

The batterys are really small in our keys too, plus the light will go on even if the battery does not have enough juice to actually send a message.

try other key... if it doesn't work.. then i'm assuming something is jamming your signal at the least..

i've had mornings going to my former job and the keyless wouldn't work at all... then i found out the worksite had jamming signals and stuff that get a bit strong some mornings...

that's the only issue i ever had with the keyless
